It’s the franchise owner, not the chain. That said, if the accusation is true and that employee hasn’t been fired, DD can and should get medieval on the heinie, legally speaking, of that franchise owner.
The employee’ name: I B Stupid?
That’s gotta hurt...
Cops have destroyed NYC businesses when they feel oppressed. I’ll never forget how they put out of business a small diner on 3rd Avenue (near their academy) when the owner complained about all their illegal parking. Within months, the business was shuttered.
Criminals will find DD stores easy prey if cops don’t respond to 911 calls to those stores. Wouldn’t bother me a bit.
I can see if they boycott the one store. But, if they are boycotting the whole chain it’s wrong. I do like the statement from the chief of detectives.
The company apologized. For mature adults, that’s enough.
The NYCPD should have been getting free coffee and doughnuts anytime they show up in uniform. Good policy and marketing to those who feel safe with police around. If they stop going, no free coffee and doughnuts, and no free image marketing for the shop or the police.
This needs to be swept under the rug with both sides forgiving the other. The individual culprit who refused service, needs to serve everyone until the idiot can find a better job.
If DD corporate were smart they could turn this around in their favor with a NYC ad promo that benefits the NYPD someway. Also fire that rotten employee pronto.
They need to endorse Chock full o’Nuts.
Had this DD employee refused to serve any other group of citizens (pick one) h/she would be summarily fired. If that didn’t happen, I hope this establishment gets buried in tickets.
Stupid police. Most D&D stores are only related in that they only sell D&D products but otherwise have no direct financial relationship to each other - they’re franchise stores, not D&D owned & operated stores. Idiots.
Are the NYPD officers “snowflakes”.
Just order a large, Farva.
Well, DD better get control of their employees. Why couldn’t they make being willing to serve LEOs a condition of employment?
If the donut buying public becomes aware that a previous frequent level of police presence is no longer the case and that police are NOT likely to be there, they may be smart enough to realize that makes DD a more appealing target for criminals. Personally, I think, as a customer in a relatively high crime city, I’d seek out retail businesses that were friendly to LEOs.
Just wondering if the individual who refused service is a member of America’s first and foremost specially-privileged group.
LEOs are a doughnut shop’s bread and butter.
Oh Oh Dunkin Donuts is about to go out of business
