Russias ambassador to Washington told his superiors in Moscow that he discussed campaign-related matters, including policy issues important to Moscow, with Jeff Sessions during the 2016 presidential race, contrary to public assertions by the embattled attorney general, according to current and former U.S. officials.
Ambassador Sergey Kislyaks accounts of two conversations with Sessions then a top foreign policy adviser to Republican

Thinking this might give Trump a reason to fire Sessions? So he can get an AG who won’t recuse himself from this whole witch hunt?
IIRC, Kris Kobach is also planning to run for Governor - perhaps as a step toward White house someday.
Just as President Trump stated that if he knew Sessions was going to recuse himself, he wouldn’t have appointed him.
Sessions did nothing illegal or unethical. But the person who unmasked him and has smeared his good name needs to be held to account. I am guessing it was more than one person though. They should all be exposed.
So, does the WaPo want Sessions fired? Can’t say that I would disagree with that.
And Trump's "Russia, if you are listening, release Hillary's lost e-mails" was solicitation of a federal crime.
Then promptly hanged.
It is possible that Trump loyalists leaked this to damage Sessions. If that proves the case, Trump will begin losing part of his base. Attacking Sessions in public was a stupid tactic.
Death must be the punishment for such a crime against the Republic
Wasn’t this some sort of party arranged by the Obama admin. and Sessions showed up? If so...was someone evesdropping on conversations? Were these conversations then downloaded by the CIA or the Obama administration and now are being leaked with the intention of damaging Trump? How did they get this informaton? Who is leaking it? Why should we believe any of this?
I clicked on the article but I won’t subscribe to the WaPost so don’t know what details they presented.
So you’re willing to trust the Russian Ambassador ?
Exactly. Why are they all so neutered?
I don't have a subscription and I was able to see it. Maybe because It was link to from Drudge.

You don’t think President Trump is fighting back?
Will you believe he’s fighting back after the President fires Special Counsel Robert Mueller?
—
A. He’s fighting back as much as he can, but I was mostly thinking of the Republicans, who are supposed to be on our side.
B. You bet.
He would need to appoint a replacement that was in no way involved with the campaign.
What bothers me is that this happened supposedly during the campaign. So why are we hearing this now?
Is it even true?
There was one meeting (I think) in his office. Sessions didn’t disclose that under oath but went on to say he had the meeting but did not discuss the campaign when evidence of the meeting came to light. This article suggests that he did discuss the campaign with Russia. That said, I don’t think there is anything illegal about the discussion at all. The problem would be hiding it.
Artful reporting. Sessions testified they discussed Ukraine etc and disagreed. If the ambassador said in his report that Sessions believed Trump might win, now they also “discussed campaign related matters”. The article is BS.
