G20: USA abandons climate consensus
DW ^ | July 8, 2017 | Not stated

G20 leaders agreed on condemning violence by demonstrators in Hamburg but were less united in their opinions on climate change and free trade. Bernd Riegert reports from Hamburg.

Host Angela Merkel made a special appearance at the very end of the G20 summit, when she spoke to police representatives. She thanked them for putting their own safety on the line to ensure the security of heads of state and government and their delegations while they met in the Hanseatic city.

The German chancellor was unambiguous in her strong condemnation of the violent clashes that militant anti-globalists had engaged in over the previous two nights. "Individuals who act in this way are not interested in political critique. Those who act in this way are operaInside the trade fair building where meetings took place, a final communique was eventually produced that remained very vague in a number of areas. All 20 entities were unanimous in their belief that the regulation of financial markets must continue, as well as the need to combat terror financing and tax evasion. These issues are the core concerns of this "world government," which was founded as an answer to the 2008 financial crisis.

Unanimity, which is a G20 summit tradition, came to an end, however, on the topic of fighting global warming. The final tally was 19 to 1 on that count, since the USA recently withdrew from the United Nations Paris Agreement on climate change.

In Hamburg, US President Donald Trump also refused to acknowledge the emissions' reductions anchored in the Paris accord.ng outside the democratic community." Merkel also promised immediate support for the victims of violent acts.

Having spent a fair amount of time in China...*recently*...I can guarantee that the clearest day,air pollution-wise,I ever saw there is 10 times worse than the worst day I've ever seen in the Ruhr Valley,Ohio or the LA Basin.
I'd wager everything I own that in 10 years, while Western signatories have damaged their economies by adhering to the rules,to see China's air even worse than it is today. That's because Chinese politicians know that life is cheap there and the population would rather die at 50 owning a Kia than die at 80 owning a bicycle.

And the Chinese don't even have to cut anything until after 2030 per their part of the Paris Agreement - a fact rarely mentioned by the MSM.

You are correct; wind and solar will never replace fossil fuels in an industrial nation. That's the point.

Up until today, nothing was brought forward that was not agreed to by all parties. Today, they bring forward Paris, even though they know there is no consensus.

On well. Might as well get everybody on the record.

1 is greater than 19, in this case. It is about time somebody stood up to the quasi-religious climate cult.

In reality, there is no consensus.

I do believe that the German Chancellor purposely mis-identified the culprits.

Dear G20 nations: Show proof that the USA caused the most pollution. You can’t because it is China and India, so we decided to enjoy the planet by making America Great Again. If you don’t like it, F You.

But, I think maybe China will clean up. But, they won’t do it for ideological reasons if they do. They’ll do it to keep popular discontent down, and to show that the government cares about public health matters. The industrial push is maturing; maybe now they can plow some of the gains back into something of a cleanup.

The Chinese middle class will eventually demand a cleaner environment. These people are educated and will pressure Beijing for reforms. If China wants to evolve then they will have to clean up their own mess.

‘Climate consensus’ sure sounds like a euphemism for group think.

USA abandons climate consensus

So it is no longer a "consensus".

What are they going to call it now, "climate theory that some people push for profit but the people who actually would have to fund this boondoggle think is pure hokum?"

Think about the statement for a minute.

The euro-fags will have to dine and bugger small children on someone else’s dime, no the US taxpayers dollar. May those lefties all burn in the socialist flames they stoke.
