Crime pays: How Michael Brown’s family cashed in
The Hill newspaper ^ | Jun 28, 2017 | John R Lott Jr

Posted on 06/28/2017 11:59:22 AM PDT by richardb72

First, Michael Brown robbed a store. Then he viciously assaulted a policeman, fighting for the officer’s gun.

The officer was left badly bruised and worried he might lose consciousness.

Only when Brown charged once again did the officer fatally shoot him. As I show below, there is no debating the facts about the August 2014 shooting.

Yet, what has Ferguson, Missouri done?

On Saturday it was revealed that they “secretly” awarded the criminal’s family a “wrongful death claim” of $1.5 million.

But if that doesn’t get you angry, look who is getting the money.

After a grand jury declined to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, Brown’s stepfather incited demonstrators to "Burn this motherf---er down" and "Burn this b--ch down." At least 14 people were injured and twelve buildings set on fire in the ensuing violence.

Compensating people for legitimate harm done to them is one thing, but the $1.5 million payment looks more like an extortion payment than anything else.

Are Ferguson city officials worried about more violence if they don’t pay up?

While this might buy Ferguson some safety, will it cause others to seek big payoffs in other parts of the country?

After the shooting, President Obama told Americans that Michael Brown’s death “awakened our nation once again to the reality that [black people] have long understood” and that the shooting demonstrated why “too many young men of color feel targeted by law enforcement.”

Others in Obama’s administration made similar comments.

President Barack Obama should have waited until the facts were in.

The Department of Justice's own investigation makes for devastating reading . . .

F’ing ghouls, feasting on the flesh of their thug child. The rioters should march on their house and demand their cut.

That’s not the only one. There have been several payouts recently for black families that have had sons killed by police. Even if the police were exonerated over the killing.

OK,now that that filthy clan has their $1.5 million it's time for the shop owner and store clerk in that video to sue for $3 million.

#1. $1.4 Million is not all that much money considering how many fees and taxes will be sliced off first. Considering how internationally infamous this story was, and the copycat riots it inspired.

#2. I hear that ex-policeman is still unemployed.
That’s a sad waste of training and ability. I get it that he could no longer effectively serve in Fergusson, but surely there must be someplace not ruled by racism, or give him a new identity in someplace like Hawaii, Guam or Alaska.

Families of whites killed by police don't get these huge payouts, so WHY do blacks get PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT? What about that black b*tch mayor who gave Freddie Gray's family MILLIONS and BEFORE the officers' trial where they were ALL found not guilty? Do the taxpayers get their money back now? WHY ISN'T THIS MAYOR BEING PROSECUTED?

Has anyone noticed that now that Trump is president we're not getting any burning cities in black communities like when Halfrican Baracko Odumbu was president?

Rodney King was awarded $3.8 million by a jury when he sued the City of Los Angeles after the beating he got at the hands of the LAPD.

He died at the age of 47 -- drowned in his pool while apparently strung out on a combination of alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, and PCP.

All the money in the world ain't enough to civilize some people.

1.5 million dollars.

I’m guessing 2 years max.

2 years before these grown up thugs piss though that money with nothing left. Nothing to show for it. And nothing left to do except go back on the Welfare gravy train.

Indeed. Many of the rioters and looters bussed in to Ferguson by Soros and other scum-wads never got paid.

Wass-up wit dat?

I was really surprised that he lived as long as he did. I bet he would O.D. within a couple of years of getting his big payoff.

The $ will be gone in 6 months. Frittered away on cadillacs, fancy grilles and cocaine. Or maybe they will buy a house that will be a flophouse for crackheads inside a year.
