Actor Corey Stoll has opened up about his experience starring in the Public Theaters controversial staging of Julius Caesar this summer, explaining that performing the play in the wake of protests and criticism was itself a form of resistance. In an essay for Vulture, the 41-year-old House of Cards star, who played Marcus Brutus in the play, wrote that he initially did not know the Caesar character would be a stand-in for President Donald Trump, complete with blonde hair and business suit. The characters resemblance to the president sparked outrage when, as happens in the Shakespeare classic, the Trump-like Caesar is brutally stabbed to death by his associates in the Senate. The controversy led two sponsors of the Public Theater, Delta Air Lines and Bank of America, to pull their funding, while hecklers interrupted the performance during its final few nights.
The protesters never shut us down, but we had to fight each night to make sure they did not distort the story we were telling, Stoll wrote. At that moment, watching my castmates hold their performances together, it occurred to me that this is resistance.

Resistance? Against what, all that is right and moral and for the good of this country and it’s citizens?? Typical liberal way of thinking....what is ‘right’, is wrong, and what is ‘wrong’, is right.
for them, gay sex is resistance
Corey,Corey,Corey.Resistance is a sub-moa rifle in the hands of someone who has mastered it’s use.The coming civil war will teach you this.
No...it’s sick.
Exactly. Resistance against what? The US Constitution?
The right to protect citizens from predators?
Your resistance my friend may not end well on your behalf.
Perhaps he’ll get a role in the next Dixie Chicks movie.
Resistance is not consistent with our Constitution. It is punishable by a firing squad.
They don’t really mean resist. What they really mean is for you to conform to their expectations or else.
Revolution is consistent with the Declaration of Independence however. And as our Founders knew quite well there are only two possible outcomes for the “resisters.”
If you win you’re Golden! If you lose you’re hung as a traitor.
And until you win you’re a traitor who can be shot, hung or imprisoned if caught in the act.
...Typical liberal way of thinking....what is right, is wrong, and what is wrong, is right...
Looks like Democrats were in mind when this was written several thousand years ago.
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter”
Isaiah 5:20
No, it’s more like sedition.
Usual suspect kvetchnik
These are the days of Isaiah 5:20.
Severely-pushed by Democrats these past 9 years, especially....
“Resistance? Against what, all that is right and moral and for the good of this country and its citizens?? Typical liberal way of thinking....what is right, is wrong, and what is wrong, is right”.
Exactly!
They are Demonically driven.
[Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter Isaiah 5:20]
Exactly.
Wow. An actual drama queen.
