President Trump, Why Not Let America Write the Obamacare Replacement

Posted on 06/23/2017 11:40:13 AM PDT by american_ranger

Why not scrap the healthcare bill from the House and the one from the Senate? Pick a group of people from the medical field, insurance companies, and normal citizens and let them write the new healthcare bill. Make them post everything on a website that allows citizens' comments. After 6 months, put the bill to Congress. We citizens can write a much better bill than a bunch of Congress critters aides

Better idea: let the free market provide health insurance and let charities provide medical charity

No replacement, dam*it!

REPEAL the krap and move on to any proper, constitutional subjects for legislation, instead.

A very good idea to get a draft on the table. Maybe shut down some of the never-ending sniping.

Secretary Tom Price is a doctor. Didn’t he have input on the bill?

already done, version 4.6:

I’ll look at what the Senate has done before releasing a modified version.

Except for offering subsidies, my plan I believe is the most market-based.

Good idea. This idea would be, in other words, the free market! No need for legislation. It would be much cheaper for states to just take care of those that TRULY need assistance.

Don’t need a draft, just the free market.

End Mandate.

End Subsidy.

Drop threshold on medical expense deduction.

Tax Medicaid benefits like unemployment benefits.

Adjust income tax code as necessary.

Did you ever think that we would have the majority in the House and the Senate and occupy the White House, and abdicate our solemn duty to “the public”?

It’s the duty of our elected officials to do what is best for the nation, so special interests cannot game the negotiations.

You put the health care industry, the insurance companies, and the general public in the mix, and I think it would get very ugly very fast.

Each would be trying to get as much as they could for themselves.

Let me be clear. I had always wanted input from the health care and insurance companies, but when you do get that, you have to realize you’re going to generally get suggestions based on how things have always been done.

The idea you’ll get new thinking or cutting edge ideas is misguided IMO.

I faulted the Clinton and Obama efforts for not having insider contributions, but I want top finance guys involved as much or more than I want those two groups involved.

Give us a sound economic structure. Let the market place work it’s magic.

As for insurance companies, they are siphoning hundreds of billions of dollars away from health care provision each year, and not a dime of it will go towards treatments.

Imagine if that insurance company profits did go toward treatments, and a majority of it could got back to premium payers.

I would rather see hospital groups work as their own insurance co-op.

All the money would find it’s way into supporting medical provision directly.

If medical insurance companies are such a great idea, why not have food insurance and gas insurance. We could pay a middle-man and about 85% of our purchase price would go to food and gas, and the rest would go to the insurance company to run it and for profits.

What? You don’t want to pay more for food or gas?

Why do you want to pay more for health care?

Yes, let us real USAians write it.
I’m sure we’ll remember to not include any Moslem dhimmitude language. Maybe all we’ll do is modify old insurance law to make health insurance affordable, without USGov taking over.
Get DC out of our lives!

“constitutional”

Congress has the power to grant patents on drugs under Article I, Section 8.

Patents make drugs expensive.

If somebody with a pre-existing condition needs an expensive drug, “insurance” companies don’t want to cover that person.

Patents create a “need” justifying “proper” federal government action to pay for Article I, Section 8 patented drugs. The Supreme Court allows Congress to decide what is proper under the “necessary and power” supplemental power to the enumerated powers.

The “need” doesn’t have to that of the federal government itself, since no adjective precedes “need” in Article I, Section 8.

The PPACA itself isn’t “proper” in my opinion since it fines people for not buying a product, so Congress needs to act to repeal the individual and employer fines at a minimum.

“Let the market place work it’s magic.”

My plan allows for subsidy-eligible “all the doctors” prescribe bulk drug purchasing coverage plans.

My plan provides for a Federal Drug Marketplace with income-based pricing.

“I would rather see hospital groups work as their own insurance co-op.”

My plan separates out drug coverage subsidies so hospitals can be care-only coverage providers.

Most of the middle class likes to travel and often lives far from their workplaces, so hospital provided care-only coverage will often not meet middle-class needs.

“After 6 months, put the bill to Congress.”

Insurance companies need to design plans and price them by October.

People need to be able to buy coverage by December 2017 for 2018.

Make 51% of the group everyday taxpayers who grind it out taking care of their own families only to have the federal government extort their earnings to enrich the insurance companies and hand out free medical to illegal aliens, American hating muslims, lazy moochers, gang bangers and 4th generation welfare breeders.

Wow! A lot of work and thought went into that. Nicely done.

My ideas have always been much more simplistic, and probably unworkable because of that.

1. Health insurance available across state lines.
2. Tort reform.
3. $1K out of pocket before insurance kicks in.

Provision 3 is the one that will drive costs down as people will start to shop around for better deals and will stop visiting the emergency room or doctor’s office for minor issues.
