Kayla Hart dropped by the Starbucks in Charlotte, North Carolina the other day for a cup of coffee. She left with a bitter taste and it had nothing to do with the overpriced java.
Kayla happened to be wearing a Donald Trump t-shirt when she walked into the coffee shop on East Boulevard in the Dilworth neighborhood.
She tells Fox 46 the cashier took one look at her t-shirt and laughed. She also noticed her order was labeled with a political message mocking her support of the president.
Instead of her name, the cashier wrote, Build A Wall.
They shouted out, Build a Wall and shoved a drink at me and then all the baristas in the back started cracking up laughing, she said.
As you might imagine, it was a bit embarrassing for Kayla whose only offense was to spend her hard-earned money at a far-left coffee house like Starbucks.
I dont know what politics has to do with getting a cup of coffee, she told our Fox television affiliate.
Well, these days the mere mention of President Trumps name can roast a baristas beans faster than you can say, Make America Great Again.
I just walked out because everyone was staring, she said. I just found it really sad that I cant wear a t-shirt with our president without being made fun of.
The good people at Fox 46 Charlotte thought the folks at Starbucks headquarters should know what was happening in their local store and soon they received a response:
"We failed to meet this customer's expectations of us, and we have apologized and are working directly with her to make it right. This experience is not consistent with our standards or the welcoming and respectful experience we aim to provide every customer who visit our stores. We have spoken with our store partners about this situation and are using this as a coaching opportunity for the future," Starbucks said in a statement.
Kayla said she is not on some sort of crusade to get people to boycott Starbucks. She just thinks customers should be treated with a little dignity.
I dont think its right you should be humiliated for wearing a t-shirt with your opinion on it, she said.
Kayla should switch to Community Coffee. It wont bust your budget, the staff is steeped in hospitality, and the coffee doesnt taste burned.
>>who ever drank starbuck to begin with? politics aside the coffee sucks...<<
I always called it “charbucks.” People back then thought French Roast was O So Cool.
Tasted burnt then, tastes burnt now.
Ain’t no “Whoopsy daisy!” involved for Cletus.
My action would be calculated and cold. All the while staring directly in the face of the “snowflake”.
Let them spend hours to recover their entire [local] system because of one employee’s in-discretionary stupidity.
Who cares if “man-bun” gets fired?
Is that you Kramer?
I don’t, I’ve tried it when it was introduced many years ago at the Music City Sheraton in Nashville, where I used to work.
I would have reported her to the manager
Having a hard time [conservatively] “grokking” this response.
Do you see the response as ‘inappropriate’ as well as too aggressive?
Just asking.
Kayla to barista: Are you done mocking me?
Barista: Yes
Kayla: Is this coffee hot?
Barista: Yes
Kayla removes lid and throws hot coffee in his face: Oops, it slipped.
Would bet that these baristas either have or are building financial aid debt with degrees in Wymyn Studies or other such career enhancement fields.
Correction
Barista: minimum wage, coffee slinging SJW with M.A. in Gender Studies and White Privilege from Yale University
Happy to fix it for you.
You sound like an extremist.
LOL!
I thought that Starbucks was being boycotted by conservatives ? If you’re a conservative you have NO business in Starbucks.
I am not sure if that would have been wise. The best thing would have been to open the lid and dump it out on the counter, and than walk out. The barista would have had to clean it up.
Like everything it seems, the further you rise, the further left you become.
I remember when a supplier of ours at work brought in Starbucks. Our receptionist had always talked about “needing her Starbucks” so I thought I was in for a coffee that was out of this world.
Horrible stuff. I couldn’t believe anyone could drink it. More cream and sugar didn’t help.
I hope this woman didn’t drink the coffee. The barista probably spit in it.
“We failed to meet this customer’s expectations of us, and we have apologized and are working directly with her to make it right”
See, here’s the problem. The offense was committed in public but the resolution is in private.
