Kayla Hart dropped by the Starbucks in Charlotte, North Carolina the other day for a cup of coffee. She left with a bitter taste and it had nothing to do with the overpriced java.
Kayla happened to be wearing a Donald Trump t-shirt when she walked into the coffee shop on East Boulevard in the Dilworth neighborhood.
She tells Fox 46 the cashier took one look at her t-shirt and laughed. She also noticed her order was labeled with a political message mocking her support of the president.
Instead of her name, the cashier wrote, Build A Wall.
They shouted out, Build a Wall and shoved a drink at me and then all the baristas in the back started cracking up laughing, she said.
As you might imagine, it was a bit embarrassing for Kayla whose only offense was to spend her hard-earned money at a far-left coffee house like Starbucks.
I dont know what politics has to do with getting a cup of coffee, she told our Fox television affiliate.
Well, these days the mere mention of President Trumps name can roast a baristas beans faster than you can say, Make America Great Again.
I just walked out because everyone was staring, she said. I just found it really sad that I cant wear a t-shirt with our president without being made fun of.
The good people at Fox 46 Charlotte thought the folks at Starbucks headquarters should know what was happening in their local store and soon they received a response:
"We failed to meet this customer's expectations of us, and we have apologized and are working directly with her to make it right. This experience is not consistent with our standards or the welcoming and respectful experience we aim to provide every customer who visit our stores. We have spoken with our store partners about this situation and are using this as a coaching opportunity for the future," Starbucks said in a statement.
Kayla said she is not on some sort of crusade to get people to boycott Starbucks. She just thinks customers should be treated with a little dignity.
I dont think its right you should be humiliated for wearing a t-shirt with your opinion on it, she said.
Kayla should switch to Community Coffee. It wont bust your budget, the staff is steeped in hospitality, and the coffee doesnt taste burned.
First off, who drinks Starbucks anymore?
Second of all, they don’t like you, don’t go back. Period.
Do that with me, and it’s free coffee for me for life.
North Carolina ought to be ashamed of itself
Barista: minimum wage coffee slinging snowflake.
Too bad the lady did not make a scene and get the manager called on the carpet.
The Left counts on us cowering and slinking away.
I got treated like a pariah at the Army Birthday Party, a formal dinner celebrating the Army by an Army spouse who was livid about the election. In fact, among the seven at our table, 05s and and 07 (I am an 04) I was the only Trump supporter. Sad.
Dear Kayla:
Get a clue SBX is not a Trump/conservative/Christian/cleanliness friendly place.
Sincerely,
The Rest of America.
“...who drinks Starbucks anymore?”
People with dead taste buds.
Fascist swamp creature bullies individual ALERT!
who ever drank starbuck to begin with? politics aside the coffee sucks...
Should have poured the coffee out on the counter, said “go ahead - make my day” and walked out.
“Do that with me, and its free coffee for me for life.”
With anything they decide to spit in it? No thanks. I would go the route of suing their a$$e$ off that they discriminated against me because of my political views. I would make it so ridiculous that my attorney will have a field day telling the media that Conservatives are a protected class.
I would fight so hard that job applications which ask the EOE questions would list Conservatives. Liberals only understand one thing. Strength. Reagan paved the way for us with the Soviets but somewhere along the way we lost our nerve to fight back.
What? Even the Army is anti Trump?
A moment's thought would suggest that ticking off half your potential customers is reason enough to avoid any political commentary in a retail establishment, but thought (even momentary) seems in short supply in some businesses.
America runs on Dunkin!
you’d be surprised. Of course these folks are all retired, not current active duty types, so I don’t know the state of mind of the actives.
Do that with Cletus and it will bring a full cup of hot coffee down on the nearest cash register [computer].
I might even add some cream and sugar just before I dump on them.
BS....you deliberately made your company a liberal mouthpiece....of course you workers feel they can treat people this way.
LOL - Me- Whoopy daisy! I just knocked my coffee over behind the counter - Sorry! Bye!
She should have looked at the serving clerk and poured the coffee onto the counter then walked out.
Best $5 ever wasted.
