I totally understand. I was just at my uncle's funeral yesterday, a retired USAF Reserve Colonel that had Alzheimer's disease. My wife accuses me of the beginnings every other day. While reminiscing, some of my cousins and siblings said I have a memory like an elephant and my brother added, the wrinkled skin to boot. I was glad to tell my wife that.
