CNN is evaluating Kathy Griffin’s role in its annual New Year’s Eve coverage following the comic's controversial photo shoot in which she posed with a decapitated, bloody head resembling President Trump.
“We found what she did disgusting and offensive,” CNN said in a statement Tuesday. “We are pleased to see she has apologized and asked that the photos be taken down. We are evaluating our New Year’s Eve coverage and have made no decisions at this point."
Griffin earlier Tuesday apologized for the photo, noting that she had crossed a line.
“I sincerely apologize,” she said in a 31-second video posted on Twitter. “I’m a comic. I cross the line. I move the line and then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is way too disturbing.” “I understand how it offends people,” Griffin added. “It wasn’t funny. I get it. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career, I’ll continue.”
Griffin also asked for forgiveness in the vide, promising to take the image down. The photo, however, had already sparked debate on social media and caused "Kathy Griffin" to trend on Twitter.
Griffin has co-hosted CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live” broadcast every January since 2007 when she joined network anchor Anderson Cooper.
Cooper tweeted earlier in the evening that he was "appalled" by the photo.

The fact that CNN did not immediately dissociate from her completely shows that they have no real problem with the image, they are just waiting to see if it will all blow over and allow them to continue on their merry way.
Any organization worth spit would immediately and irrevocably separate from this person. Obviously CNN is not even worth spit.

I find THEM disgusting... this photo is also a terrible insult to anyone who’s had a family member beheaded by a fanatic. It’s cruel.

Here the similarity ends. As of 2016 she has a net worth of $20 million...and I do not.
As a youngster she had serious eating disorders and has said "she had a compulsion to talk all the time."
She has been a radical-left activist most of her adult life, particularly in the gay rights and same-sex marriage movements.
She is partially blind in one eye...and has had multiple plastic surgeries including liposuction.
She's been divorced once, no children.....and has had open relationships with a steady procession of males since the divorce.
She is 5'3"...was raised Catholic, then fell away from the Church.....and morphed into a self-described "non-believer".
She says that the photo of her dangling a gory, mutilated, severed head of the President of the United States was just "a joke" that "went over the line".
