President Donald Trump privately told several confidants that he will be pulling out of the Paris climate deal, three sources with direct knowledge told Axios.
The president refused Saturday to join his Group of 7 (G7) counterparts in a pledge to uphold the 195-nation Paris Agreement. Trump tweeted that he will make his decision next week, signaling that he has yet to officially make up his mind.
I will make my final decision on the Paris Accord next week!

Pulling out of the Paris climate deal would unravel Obama-era climate change policies, and possibly the agreement itself. Dropping the agreement would also send a message to the world that climate change is not a pressing issue for the new administration.
White House economic adviser Gary Cohn said earlier that if Trump is faced with a choice between growing the economy and fighting global warming, Trump will choose the economy.
If it comes to a choice between measures to curtail global warming under the 2015 Paris climate accord and growing the U.S. economy, economic considerations would prevail, Cohn told reporters on Air Force One Thursday.
Cohn, along with Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson favor the agreement, while Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt are against it. Pruitt was reportedly among those in which Trump confided that he intends to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
Trumps unwillingness to pledge support for the climate deal upset certain European partners, specifically Germanys Chanellor Angela Merkel. The entire discussion about climate was very difficult, if not to say very dissatisfying, she told reporters, There are no indications whether the United States will stay in the Paris Agreement or not.
His basis for decision ultimately is going to be whats best for the United States, Cohn said Saturday.
I almost think the media is trying to convince Trump to fire 100% of his staff as "leakers".
“measures to curtail global warming”
Cohn seems unhappy with Trump’s choice. Those measures accomplish little more than to move a few trillion dollars from the many to the few.
This is why liberals are so pissed..because they know that eventually it will be like their Messiah Obama NEVER existed..President Trump one by one is destroying Obama’s sacred Commie legacy and leftist loons just can’t stand it
Just a guess, but I’m thinking he wants his new communications team in before announcing this. That may include Laura Ingraham, because she just got her DOJ security clearance.
I think we are closer to it happening since the trial balloon..or leak..or whatever you want to call it came out that Kushner was changing his mind on Paris and that the standards had to change.
according to confidants.
He better damn well as he promised to do so in campaign.
I will believe that when I hear it directly from President Trump. He has been known to change his mind at the next to last moment about issues, or send a surrogate out (Pence, McMasters, KellyAnne) with one story, and contradict them the next day.
I hope it’s true, that he will withdraw us from this potentially expensive, bottomless pit of indebtedness.
I think him waiting to make a formal declaration is intended to let the European leadership save face.
If he had done it at the summit or shortly after, it would have looked like an “in your face” thing.
Later on it will be done with little fanfare.
The promoters of the Ivanka/Jared mem are going to be quite perplexed. Sniff, sniff...
Trump likely would have to countermand his own Executive Order(s) reversing Obama’s to go along with this climate BS. I highly doubt that’s going to happen.
A pretty good guess.
“That may include Laura Ingraham, because she just got her DOJ security clearance.”
Big news, there, Professor. Thanks for letting us know.
Good catch. One can learn a lot about people's positions simply based on the language they use. We simply do not have the technology to change the climate. Perhaps some day but not now.
Sure hope so. I know it would be a sacrifice, but boy would she help!
The Paris Accord is just a repeat of Kyoto and Congress rejected it unanimously.
The sooner that horse shit stops, the better.
I can’t believe anything, unless the story says the names of those who said it.
I do hope Cohn is on the way out. He's living up to his resume.
Let’s get it from President Trump’s mouth. I have my doubts until then.
