A flash of excitement about travel to Cuba after the country opened its borders to the U.S. in 2016 for the first time in decades may have lost some of its shine.
Americans are less interested in travel to Cuba this year than they were in 2016, a survey from insurance provider Allianz Global Assistance found. Some 76% of the 1,514 respondents said they were not likely to plan a trip to Cuba in 2017 compared to 70% in 2016. Only 2% of those surveyed planned to visit Cuba in the next six months or by the end of 2017, the same as 2016 despite a projected increase in travelers from the country

Puerto Rico Ping! Please Freepmail me if you want on or off the list.
You’ve seen one toilet, you’ve seen ‘em all.
If you went out and asked a thousand middle-class people (with jobs)...given all the places in the world....Cuba would likely rank down past the 100-point. You might find ten out of thousand who’d have some ambition to go.
Now, if you brought up Panama, Aruba, or Dominican Republic....well, that’s a different story.
I say there’s too many Americans here that are too busy trying to turn America into another Cuba.....
Hmmm...travel to Cuba...a trip where two positives make a negative...as in...”Yeah, right.”{p>No desire to visit a country that has been Castroted.
I had an opportunity to visit a scuba diving area near Guantanamo Bay Cuba. You could see the sea bed through at least 30 feet of water, crystal clear. We have a souvenir conch shell from one of the divers which is at football sized. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life.
The food on the other hand was abominable and I was never quite sure what sound the meat made before being served up.
I spent years as a “tourist” in Panama. Wonderful place and I could show you things that you would not believe.
I have never visited a prison on vacation and I do not plan to start now.
Never ask a third world street vendor what kind of meat...
It’s all “chicken” anyway. LOL.
I say theres too many Americans here that are too busy trying to turn America into another Cuba.....
“Cuba has a long way to go before its suitable for many high-maintenance American tourists. This will come with certain expectations: Americans expect that cell phones will work, credit cards will work, and that access to internet wont be limited, she said.”
John Pennekamp in the keys excellent Foods excellent but you better leave the shells on the floor of the ocean
I hear too much Spanish being spoken here.
Why go somewhere where Spanish is the official language?
I have a curious interest. But I hate the beach. I am not a fan of the 1950’s. And I spent a summer on a CT Shade tobacco farm.
So, I think it will stay a mild curiosity.
My leftist friends in the USA remain excited about visiting Cuba. Whether they will actually visit is something else.
Of course, the European leftists like to visit Cuba as it reminds them of the greatness of Communism.
Whether Cuba allows the construction of new resorts owned by foreign interests is unknown.
Cuba is a significant tourist destination for Swedes. I have a lot of Swedish friends and associates that have gone there. Primarily because it is cheap and sunny.
But invariably, they come back with horror stories about terrible service, food, and accommodations.
The only thing they say is inexpensive and of great quality is female accompaniment. For a couple hundred American dollars, one can have a model quality young lady dote on their every whim for a week.
And she will make ten times the wages of the best brain surgeon in Cuba.
Forbidden fruit is always more coveted. Once no longer forbidden, not so much.
I am going to Cuba this year on a cruise ship. A cruise ship provides safe meals and a clean room.
Laz, let me know when you get the cruise organized.
