IBM, Amazon, SoftBank, and Alibaba all made high-profile pledges to create U.S. jobs
Progress has been mixed, with Amazon hiring the most so far.
The first few weeks of Donald Trump's presidency were flooded with jobs announcements with a common theme: bringing jobs back to America.
Now, 100 days into the Trump administration, where are those jobs? What positions have been filled and which companies have followed up with real hiring?
While some companies were eager to provide big, tweetable numbers a few months ago, progress has been a little slower. For example:
IBM. Shortly after the election and before Trump's inauguration, IBM CEO Ginni Rometty said the company would hire 25,000 "new collar" jobs in the next four years in the US (6,000 of them this year).
The company told CNBC this week that they've hired 120 people in their Columbia, Missouri Client Innovation Center and 200 veterans since the start of the year. To stay on track, IBM will have to fill more than 5,500 new employees in the U.S. in the remaining 8 months of the year.
Amazon. In January, Amazon touted plans to hire 100 thousand "new, full-time, full-benefit jobs" across the nation over the next 18 months....

American tech companies have been outsourcing for a very long time.
Both parties have been a part of this.
Trump said he would be for American workers.
It is time Trump. Be for American workers.
Not for Chinese workers. Not for Mexican workers. Not for Indian workers, South American workers. Not for European workers.
Trump it is time. Bring back jobs to America.
It takes us months to find people sometimes.
I showed you yesterday that he has already brought MILLIONS of jobs back to the United States and this article mentions millions more. You can’t get a simple frame house built in the time he’s been in office. Magic wands don’t exist.
Dont believe those Lying Leftist Media outlets that proved themselves during the 2016 campaign to be operatives of the DNC and intentional liars. They are presumed to be lying and we should presume what they publish is a lie. The presumption can only be rebutted with the outlet providing clear and convincing evidence they are not lying.
Here what we have is a Leftist outlet inferring and cheering the idea that somehow tech companies are somehow subservient to the feds. The Left would love that.
For all that Trump is doing , we on the Right need to remember - the feds have NO constitutional authority to interfere with the workings of private enterprise except for smoothing out barriers to interstate commerce.
One way or the other, we MUST pare down the feds to its constitutional limitations. That is the only way we will restore our Free Constitutional Republic.
How fast does the dingbat think mfg facilities can be expanded, machinery, utilities and offices completed and staff be recruited?
Rometty & IBM are the worst outsourcers of the bunch.
Bull shit
IBM had a crack Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity team that would fly all over the world to help companies recover from fires, floods and anything that wiped out the customer’s data center. Between disasters, they would consult with companies on how to prepare for, and mitigate against such disasters.
Despite that team being profitable ($1M+ to the bottom line), at the end of 2016 IBM sent the team packing. The management figured that the skills would be cheaper from India.
I know, I was on the team.
Y’all ought to join up with a similar unit that YOU CREATE for Academi.
“Bull shit”

“Daddy, BE MEAN to the undocumented immigrants. Promise?”
Better?
It’s unfortunate that the Endicott Alliance isn’t around to take Ginny to task on the new hiring. There are plenty of RAed ex-employees that could do the work.
Alibaba’s deal is “we’ll open up our version of Amazon marketplaces to Americans”. Not really hiring Americans but potential job growth.
Will the money in their pockets spend any differently?
Funny, I don’t seem to recall any media outlets holding Obama’s feet to the fire over promises. And I know for certain, they didn’t quite major companies when they weren’t follow through on promises to him.
He didn’t demand any.
It will of zero benefit to US citizens if the plan is to fill these jobs with H-1B visa immigrants.
How many H1-B visas do you think are issued every year?
65,000. But there is massive cheating.
Every government scheme (food stamps, the draft, welfare, Medicare) has massive fraud and cheating.
