Tillerson: The reign of the Assad family is coming to an end
NY POST ^ | April 11, 2017 | Mark Moore

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson issued a stern warning to Russia on Tuesday: Either stand with the US and other “like-minded” nations against Syria or side with President Bashar al-Assad and his allies Iran and the militant group Hezbollah. SEE ALSO Russia knew Syria’s chemical-weapon attack was coming: US Russia knew Syria’s chemical-weapon attack was coming: US

”We want to relieve the suffering of the Syrian people. Russia can be a part of that future and play an important role,” Tillerson told top diplomats during a meeting in Italy. “Or Russia can maintain its alliance with this group, which we believe is not going to serve Russia’s interests longer-term.”

His comments came hours before he was scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow and days after the US launched a cruise missile strike against a Syrian air base after Assad attacked his citizens with chemical weapons, killing 87 people.

Tillerson, who met with “like-minded” countries on the sidelines of the G-7 meetings of industrialized nations, said Russia failed to live up to its agreement to rid Syria of chemical weapons either through incompetence or negligence, but the distinction “doesn’t much matter to the dead.”

“We cannot let this happen again,” he said.

......”Russia has called on the UN to investigate who used the chemical weapons”....

Tillerson is meeting with Putin today so hopefully between them they can come to some understanding about Syria's Chemical weapons.

We know that Russia removed all the chemical weapons Assad had..’in the areas of control Assad had’....but really how could they remove those the terrorists had stored in their areas of control. We know they confiscated chemical weapons in areas they had won the battles.

It appears we're saying this occurred via ‘distribution’ by military jets. But this has not yet been actually proved last I saw outside of an airial map we've shown of the flight path they think it took.

Until there is an investigation I don't see how blame can be put anywhere other than obvious an attack had occurred...and others, though smaller attacks, as well throughout this war have been used by terrorists when they're loosing a battle.

Either way Trump and the G-7 are simply putting pressure on Russia to make a choice regarding support to Assad. Interesting Putin said a week or so ago that his support to Assad is not without conditions........would be interesting if we knew what those conditions are.

Because getting rid of Saddam Hussein, and Daffy Ghadafi, and betraying Mubarak worked just so well.
Syria ends up being another failed state like Libya and host to all sorts of terrorists.
Just effin’ brilliant.

Nikki Haley is way more hawkish than Rex has been. The fact is Trump isn’t a dictator and he can’t get his people in without the Senate and we know what they’re like already (especially since Democrats will vote against anyone who is a Trump guy).

Tillerson’s Moscow visit has already been downgraded and Putin who is nobodies fool is reaching out directly to other members of the G7 for support for an international inquiry into the gas attack.

Lets get some facts on the table before marching off to war.

He is better than a failed state like Libya or Afghanistan, or an Islamic ‘Republic’ like Iran.

Fine. Who’s going to take his place. Hey, I have an idea. Let’s install a puppet regime so 20 years down the line we can do this all over again.

I said an investigation should have been done from the beginning. If they found out Assad did it, make a deal with Russia that they go with us and allow us to ensure all chemical weapons are removed. If Assad does it again, slap crippling sanctions on Russia over it. They have incentive to keep in line.

It would be a good thing IF there were any other contenders to govern the country aside from ISIS.

The reality is, there’s not.

Why can’t people see this? So short sighted. Trump will not take the same route others have. By now everyone should realize Trump is different, he proves it every day. Yet so many think he’s going to repeat what others have.

The contrast in the ways of thinking are illustrated best in this debate between Paul Joseph Watson and Bill Mitchell. Notice how short sighted Paul is, and because of it his arguments are actually pretty lame IMO. The debate is great example of the difference between strategic thinking and non-strategic thinking. Trump is a strategic thinker. So many don’t understand this fact at all.

Interesting Syria debate between Bill Mitchell and Paul Joseph Watson
