Secretary of State Rex Tillerson issued a stern warning to Russia on Tuesday: Either stand with the US and other like-minded nations against Syria or side with President Bashar al-Assad and his allies Iran and the militant group Hezbollah. We want to relieve the suffering of the Syrian people. Russia can be a part of that future and play an important role, Tillerson told top diplomats during a meeting in Italy. Or Russia can maintain its alliance with this group, which we believe is not going to serve Russias interests longer-term.
His comments came hours before he was scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow and days after the US launched a cruise missile strike against a Syrian air base after Assad attacked his citizens with chemical weapons, killing 87 people.
Tillerson, who met with like-minded countries on the sidelines of the G-7 meetings of industrialized nations, said Russia failed to live up to its agreement to rid Syria of chemical weapons either through incompetence or negligence, but the distinction doesnt much matter to the dead.
We cannot let this happen again, he said.

I prefer Assad.
I heard this morning that Russia has called on the UN to investigate who used the chemical weapons.
Tillerson is talking like this a good thing? Sheesh.
Tillerson’s people are a bunch of Jeb/neverTrumper, Beltway RINOs unfortunately.
Oh, the dreams that could have been!
Would that some all-powerful foreign entity could have engineered a “fall of the reign of the Clinton or Obama Crime Families.”
THOSE are the dreams that are worth having.
Fine, he can send an army of corporate lobbyists over there to remove him.
We’ve been there and tried that with regards to the Middle East. Assad is still better than the insane rabble around him. Sheesh.
A Sunni - Saudi puppet will rule most of the country. Hezbollah will be Iran’s agent, the Kurds will have their area, and the Alawites and remaining Christians will be slaughtered
Israel also likes this arrangement. It has, for now, removed one long-standing major threat
Christians prefer Assad.
It appears that the US prefers a regime that murders Christians once again.
Sounds like impotent bloviating.
Have United Airlines remove Assad.
All about energy.

LOL
And I prefer someone other than the oil guy from Texas who made all the Bushies and neocons so happy in as Sec. of State.
I am hoping there is a pro-Israel component to all this. Otherwise, I don’t see any upside at all, other than the obvious bit about eclipsing the media narrative regarding Russians stealing the election.
So we supply jihadists in Syria with CW via clandestine operation
Then blame Russia when they use them
Obliterate the popularly elected Bashir Al Assad and install a new ruling council in the name of democracy and human rights
Which will tear apart SYRIA among Al Qaeda ISIS Kurds sunni shia secular Alawite Christian and various rebel militia and tribes with flags... - SYRIA becomes a wretched hive of scum and villainy patrolled by US troops in an undeclared war
Meanwhile Israel invades Syria from the south in the name of humanitarianism ( yeah that will fly in the muslim world)
Off the west coast of the US a search is underway for a sub we claim to not be able to,identify yeah right but...)
Is it north korean or.... RUSSIAN
Somehow if anything happens we can blame them both
Geez Tom Clancy would have had a field day with the real world treachery being played on We the People
Except there are no Jack Ryans here
By the way, who is the replacement model?
