Trump orders military advisers to prepare plans to hit North Korea

President Trump has ordered his military advisers to be ready with a list of options to smash North Korea’s nuclear threat.

One of the advisers, Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster, confirmed his Commander-in-Chief has made the order as a U.S. carrier strike group heads for the region.

It is believed that among the options are combined special forces raids and pre-emptive missile strikes.

One of the problems facing an American-led operation to hit Pyongyang’s leader Kim Jong-Un is the intricate tunnel network under the capital.

War-planners have had difficulty mapping out the subterranean complex and believe there are hundreds of underground artillery and airplane sites.

McMaster described the decision to redeploy the USS Carl Vinson to the Sea of Japan as ‘prudent’ given North Korea’s ‘pattern of provocative behavior.’

I’m thinking the Chinese troops are on the border to keep NK refugees from pouring across the border if we off lil’ Kim. China does not want to feed the Norks.

I’ve not seen that dynamic addressed.

I have seen the idea they were there to stop a land invasion.

I have seen the idea they were possibly thinking of taking preemptive action like we probably are.

With things the way they are in the media these days, I can only listen to different ideas, and observe what plays out.

Trump did seem very buoyed by talks with Xi, on the issue of North Korea.

China doesn’t really lose anything, if it moves a pawn in North Korea, so that the nation becomes more of a positive contribution to the region and by extension our allies.

I do not trust the Chinese leadership though.

Let’s face it, they have been pushing boundaries too in the South Western Pacific, and near Taiwan and Japan.

My plan would be to send little fat boy a message on his private cell phone (or under his pillow) saying “we’re coming to take home The Pueblo... stay out of our way”

80 days, no more...

Obama couldn’t have cared less about North Korea > IMO.

If it attacked, it would undoubtedly be a weight on our global influence.

That would seem to have fit his agenda perfectly.

There are ALWAYS plans on the drawing board.

The media is doing their usual crap shot guessing.

They call the Mirror a red top; the Sun is a pretty good red top. Our papers that are like red tops are the NY News and NY Post as far as I can see. I’d rate the Mirror low on being believable but one never knows. This looks sensational to me though and with Trump; these newspapers might say “anything goes”.

If Trump hits NK, China surely will invade and take control. This is why they are WAITING on the border! As usual, the dirty work will be done by the U.S. first, though.

Interesting theory and worth repeating as you could be onto something. I would have thought China would NOT want to take over NK and deal with supporting a dependent population. On the other hand NK would provide a lot of new workers that would likely be grateful to work for China.

Wouldn’t they be a little surprised if the Pentagon wasn’t planning a hit on the PRNK.

I would imagine the troops to the border are for containment, not invasion. The biggest fears, north and south, are the refugees.

My Guess: when Kimmie runs to China for a place of safety... China will arrest him and allow a military coupe with a transition to the “new and improved” version of Chinese Comm-Capitalism...

and eventuall semi-reunification with the South Korean nation, and cessation of hostilities.

Not nearly enough good information out there to assess this yet.

The “neglect” of the last 8 years has weakened our military and emboldened our enemies around the world. It was practically written in the sky in big bold print that with a new administration that takes national security seriously, some military actions and posturing was going to occur. Otherwise our enemies would just become even more belligerent at a weak looking US.

Obama and company not only ignored the threats, they intentionally tried to minimize and hide them.

I personally don’t know how close NK is to having a deliverable nuclear missile, but they certainly haven’t been shy about testing or threats. If they are close to any operational system that can deliver the bomb, that capability needs to be neutered now. The same applies to Iran.

South Korea would probably prefer not to have to endure the military option, but they also would not want a nuclear NK. Same for PRC and Japan. If we have to take out the threat, the NK govt likely collapses. The bigger problem is who and how the void is filled. China wont want a reunited Korea unless its under their influence. The US doesn’t need to be getting into a ground war, but we have a defense agreement with South Korea.

Red China, go to war with their Golden Goose? Hah!

Which is more valuable to Red China. The US, with which it is inextricably entangled with economically or the Norks, of which there is nothing of value to be had. NK would likely become a new Red Chinese province.....unless its utter destitution would turn out to be a depressing burden.

It appears to me that we are working together on this. Why in the world would we beg for a war with China when it’s so easily avoided.

If Kim goes down without starting something big, the stock market goes up 1,000 in a week.

I suspect something truly odd may happen.

China has massed 150,000 ground troops on the border with North Korea. That is a large enough force for *them* to invade NorK. Unless NorK fires missiles at the Chinese ground forces.

The US, however, has the best anti-missile systems in the world. The USS Carl Vinson strike group likely has amazing anti-missile capabilities. The ships that make up the strike group are the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) the guided missile destroyers USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and the guided missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57).

Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System enables warships to shoot down enemy ballistic missiles.

Put the pieces together? China invades under the US umbrella with a simple mission: capture the NorK nuclear weapons and displace fat boy, putting a puppet government in his place. Then they can leave.

That’s a good point, and I believe I heard that touched on the other day as well. Thanks for bringing it up.

There may be elevated levels of crossover being attempted right now. Maybe that’s the impetus for being there.

“The 150,000 Chinese on N. K.’s Northern border is not something I’ll real pleased with.”

The length of North Korea is a long way to go in a tank. If we interdicted the bridges in the mountains, they’d be stuck. China doesn’t have the airlift to do much else.
