How about those hoops on her? Was she "appropriating" back in the 1960s, or did these girls appropriate from others while showing their ignorance of those who came before them?

A group of Latina students at a ritzy private college in Southern California recently covered the exterior wall of a residence hall with a large graffiti-style message declaring: “White Girl, Take OFF your hoops!!!”
The scene of the spray-paint fracas is Pitzer College, reports the Claremont Independent, a student newspaper. Pitzer, a member of the five-school Claremont Consortium, charges $66,192 for a single year of tuition, fees and room and board.
The word “hoops” in the ultimatum from the Latina students refers to hoop earrings.

I went to one of those hula shows.
I sat in the first row.
A big gust of wind came when the girls were dancing and I saw Mai Tai.
They were Mai Tai fine.
I gave them a three minute standing ovation.
“why should white girls be able to take part in this culture (wearing hoop earrings just being one case of it) and be seen as cute/aesthetic/ethnic. White people have actually exploited the culture and made it into fashion.”
Good question. And why should you, Miss Latina, be able to appropriate white culture by driving a car, using electricity, and drinking clean water?

White girls I have known for many years were wearing hoop earings back when America was still America and before hardly anyone had heard of mouthy latina illegal aliens.
