Yeah, blame it on the car manufacturers... then sue them and extract a settlement afterwards. Sounds like a plan.

There was also a former FBI agent who had a Tesla lose control and burn up killing him and a passenger. He was involved with the child abduction location software (Pizzagate related).

The lunch never happened. At 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, Hastings’s silver Mercedes C250 coupe, speeding south on Highland Avenue, crossed Melrose, jumped the median, hit a palm tree, and exploded. The charred body of the driver was identified by the Los Angeles coroner as John Doe 117 until fingerprints confirmed that the deceased was Michael Hastings.

I remember this was a very suspicious accident.

May of the newer vehicles user wireless technologies attached to inherently insecure mini networks that definitely make them vulnerable.

This is nothing new.

I’m with you, was suspicious they could take control of vehicles with lots of computer electronics built in to them. Wasn’t Hastings was working on a big story about a General, cannot remember the name at the moment. Scary stuff!

If a car has parking assist, cruise control, and is drive by wire with no link between pedals and actual fiddly bits, it can be remotely controlled.
Happy thoughts.

From Wiki:

Death

On June 18, 2013, Hastings died in a single vehicle automobile crash in his Mercedes C250 Coupé at approximately 4:25 a.m. in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.[54] A witness to the crash said the car seemed to be traveling at maximum speed and was creating sparks and flames before it fishtailed and crashed into a palm tree.[55][56] Video from a nearby security camera purportedly shows Hastings’ vehicle speeding and bursting into flames.[57]

Witnesses described the car’s engine being ejected 50 to 60 yards (46–55 m) from the scene.[56][58] Hastings’ body was burned beyond recognition. The coroner identified the body by matching fingerprints with those the FBI had on file.[59][60] Two days after the crash, the Los Angeles Police Department declared that there were no signs of foul play.[61] The coroner’s report ruled the death to be an accident.[62] An autopsy showed that the cause of death was massive blunt force trauma consistent with a high-speed crash.[62]

Hastings was eulogized in the media by figures such as Christopher Hayes,[63] Rachel Maddow,[64] his co-workers at BuzzFeed,[65] and others.[66]

The film Imminent Threat, directed by Janek Ambros, is dedicated to his work.

I have to assume a car’s computer-controlled fuel injection system could be hacked to lock the car’s digital “throttle” wide-open.

Some high-performance cars can accelerate from, say, 40 mph to 100 mph in mere seconds. The results could be catastrophic for a tired or inattentive driver.
