[Ben Sasse] My Statement on Wiretapping
Twitter ^ | 1:20 PM 4 Mar 2017 | Ben Sasse

Posted on 03/04/2017 5:44:17 PM PST by AndyJackson

The President today made some very serious allegations, and the informed citizens that a republic requires deserve more information. If there were wiretaps of then-candidate Trump's organization or campaign, then it was either with FISA court authorization or without such authorization. If without, the President [Sasse is talking about Trump here, not his snideness Obama] should explain what sort of wiretap it was and how the knows this. It is possible that he was illegally tapped. On the other hand, if it was with a legal FISA Court order, then an application for surveillance exists that the Court found credible. The President should ask that this full application regarding surveillance of foreign operatives or operations be made available, ideally to the full public, and at a bare minimum to the U.S. Senate.

We are in the midst of a civilization-warping crisis of public trust, and the President's allegations today demand the thorough and dispassionate attention of serious patriots. A quest for the full truth, rather than knee-jerk partisanship, must be our guide if we are going to rebuild civic trust and health.

"Can you imagine just for a SECOND, how the left would have reacted if George W. Bush had done the same thing to Obama, wiretapped his phones during the 2008 election..."

Tapped to hear Soetoro admit he isn't a natural born Citizen and say how stupid half of the American voters are to put him in power and usurp the presidency and thereby shredding the Constitution from minute one.

I am so mad at myself because I thought at one time, he’d make an excellent VP for Trump. Thank God Trump is smarter then I am.

The Obama administration perjured themselves before the FISA court.

“The American people aren’t a bunch of toddlers,...” The way the worldwide Left continues to behave, since after the U.S. November election, is, EXACTLY, like a bunch of toddlers!

The Obama administration perjured themselves before the FISA court.

Which is illegal, being perjury, contempt of court, and denial of a civil right under color of authority of law, inter alia.

That all goes without saying, but was part of the middle that that jackass [the vote here is unanimous] Sasse was excluding in his false dichotomy.

It is certainly the most eloquent insult I have ever heard delivered since my Torpedoman Master Chief chewed out one of our young sailors who had f’up rather badly, and apparently required an explanation as to why he really would never want to do something that dumb ever again in what was promising to be a life cut drastically short.

I’d like to have heard that, provided I wasn’t the sailor in question!

Consider Trump’s tweets as mini headlines the press would never publish. The case will unfold. But I don’t know if the media will publish about it.

Ah, don’t beat yourself up. Sometimes we see stars, and too often they turn out to be duds. In the case of Sasse, I preferred Don Stenberg for the Senate seat (though he had a terrible run of luck for the Senate, losing 4 times, despite winning statewide offices handily, and is presently State Treasurer). Too bad President Trump can’t appoint Sasse as Ambassador to Mozambique and Gov. Ricketts can appoint Treasurer Stenberg to the Senate vacancy.

He isn’t mine, either (I’ve already got 2 RINO gems in TN that are to Sasse’s left). Hopefully he will be a “one and done” mistake in the 2020 GOP primary.

The left is afraid more tottlers will listen to Trump.
If he just held a press conference all the fun popping up now would never happen.
It’s poker.

Seems to be the settled talking point. If Trump was under surveillance then he was guilty. What a piece of garbage. Some conservative.

He is a #1 Elitist and #NeverTrumper.

Remember there was talk of a convention coup against Candidate Trump, and he was one who might have been the candidate for the coup.

Sasse has an unblemished voting record AFAIK but it’s like he thinks he’s Mr. Smith goes to Washington or something with this hokey temple of democracy BS talk. He should STFU and stop giving rhetorical aid to the criminal enemy democrats. I was skeptical of him for having no background in office.

I don’t think it’s warranted to have the long knifes out just yet but we should watch this guy for signs of Lineseed Graham Dutch Elm disease.

Stenberg has lost enough Senate races, he came in third in 2012 primary (and didn’t run in 2014, Sasse beat Banker Sid Dinsdale and State Treasurer Shane Osborn), lost to now Governor Ricketts in the 2006 primary and lost to a democrat in the 2000 general election (a democrat who’s ass was kicked by Chuck Hagel in 1996).

That’s not bad luck, it’s bad campaigning.
