CNN's Van Jones is a frequent Trump critic if there ever was one. But after the president's speech to the nation on Tuesday night, Jones got emotional and was clearly impressed by Trump's handling of one particular part of the speech.
Jones said Trump's tribute to Navy SEAL Ryan Owens, who died in a raid in Yemen, was one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics, period and that it was the moment Trump became president of the United States. He also said it's the kind of thing that could make Trump a two-term president.
During Trump's remarks, cameras trained on Owens's widow, Carryn Owens, with tears streaming down her face. Facing her, Trump said her husband's legacy was etched into eternity.
Here's Jones's full commentary...

I agree with you that Van Jones is one dangerous MFer.
He has Obama’s charismatic, golden tongue, but unlike Obama, he has a past. He can let time and a more moderate speaking history as a commentator reduce the sting of his past.
I suspect this was a real learning experience for Jones, and he took a lot of what he heard to heart in some way.
One of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics, period
For you, Forrest, for you.
We have known for a long time.
“I cant imagine why he is praising Trump.”
A lie succeeds best when she baits her hook with a bit of truth.
There’s a hook in there somewhere.
I am shocked that he is married to a white woman.
I think it’s very simple.
Van Jones is a far-far-leftist, but he is not stupid... and he realized how much deep kimchee his party is in after last night’s Trump Time.
Give him credit for that.
Pelosi, Bernie, Warren, and Wasserman-Schultz on the other hand are still in a daze, saying “What happened?” “What just happened?” “Why is America applauding?”
To get the full effect, just imagine Billy Crystal as Miracle Max, or Carole Kane as Miracle Max’s wife, delivering those same lines:
“What happened?” “What just happened?” “I don’t understand?” “Trump didn’t have my permission to be good!” “What happened?” “Trump didn’t follow the ‘script’ he was supposed to!”
Amen
This is something that would play very well here on FreeRepublic:
At the end of Rush's show today a caller posited that Jones gets it and will soon resign from CNN and begin to court the middle class that Trump has in his pocket. He now understands how Trump won.
CNN’s Van Jones (while clutching pearls): How do you explain a Trump presidency to your kids?
How do you explain an opportunistic duplicitous failed green jobs czar card carrying communist racist failure praising Trump a few short months after saying he won because of a white lash to your kids?
>>I cant imagine why he is praising Trump.
I think he was so overwhelmed that he just blurted it out. Those Democrats last night looked like they had just got hit with the stunner in the slaughterhouse chute. They all had to run out to find a safe space where they could find a way to start hating Trump again.
My MoveOn.org email today was so full of disbelief and lies that I just read it and laughed.
You're forgetting Clintonian triangulation.
Later, he can claim he's 'reappraised' Trump, and that he's a racist after all.
It's a game, narcissism, complete BS, all aimed at keeping Van Jones in the limelight.
Don't take the bait.
Hey, miracles can happen. I’ll take the guy at his word. Trump obviously had a remarkable impact upon him last night.
What he said was a lot better than what his comrades have been spewing. So I’ll give credit where credit is due.
And if a majority of Africans vote for him would that be a "blacklash"?
.
Van is trying to stay out of trouble.
amazes me when a full commie actually has a moment of clarity. I bet the dem-(n)s will gnash their teeth at him.
the replies at the source are deplorable.
So Jones is now Pro-Trump?

Van Jones is one of the smartest leftists. He understand things that a lot of his compatriots don’t. It’s in our interests for people like Jones to be marginalized on the left and people like Perez and Ellison to be calling the shots.
