President Trump, in his third week in office, met with a class of Green Beret candidates and brought them into the Oval Office for the first time in the courses history.
The 18 Army officers in the Special Forces Qualification Course, or Q-course, were visiting the National Security Council in early February, as a normal part of the course.
But this time, Deputy Assistant to the President Sebastian Gorka, who was scheduled to speak to the students, had suggested that they meet the president.
The plan was to take them into the Roosevelt Room in the West Wing of the White House, but Trump decided to invite them into the Oval Office, to take pictures with them for their families.
Halfway through the discussion, [Trump] said, Hey were not supposed to do this but follow me, and he brought them all into the Oval Office, took a group photograph around the Resolute desk, and then throwing the schedules into a bit of a tizzy, said OK thats not good enough,' Gorka told Breitbart News in an interview.

He is a showman who likes to make people feel good. I say that as a compliment.
These heroes deserve this visit to the Oval Office more than many of the politicians that have waltzed thru there.
And that includes the previous Prezzy.
These officers will go on serving their country with the incredible memory of having been welcomed in the Oval Office by the President of the United States, their Commander-in-Chief. It is a memory that will last forever.
“The source characterized the meeting as a photo op...”
This viciousness should not be tolerated on the Home Team.
What's my point? Teenage Donald Trump was sent to a military academy for high school. There, he studied military history and strategy. He shared dorm space with those who served in Viet Nam. He respects and understands the military. One has to assume this was a sincere and spontaneous desire on President Trump's part to bond with these future Green Berets.
Just a guess....one can't help but suspect that West Point is very happy with its future with President Trump as CIC.
If it was a photo op why wasn’t it on CNN?
If it was designed to be a photo op, wouldn’t it need to be published far and wide?
NYT headline: “Trump Meets Secretly with leaders of his new secret army in preparation for martial law decree”
Oh I would love to see the photos!
President Trump knows what memories will last with these young men. Good Job!
...and I’ll bet he didn’t ask them to hold an umbrella for him, either.
Bring the military!
Disinvite sports teams!!
The source characterized the meeting as a photo op for the president to once again, wrap himself in the flag of the military.
Who says that sort of crap? Secret Service? Family members of the President? The upstairs butler? The door keeper?
According to the first paragraph they did have to scramble a bit. Come on people, keep up! Mr. President is 70+. LOL
Stand in the corner?
Of the OvalOffice?
If the previous occupant had done this I would consider it a photo op. Why?
Because he detested the Military.
Thus far I have no reason to believe the POTUS has nothing but the deepest respect for our Military.
Expect him to show up at this class’s graduation.
Two opinions.
I hope that this did not in any way interrupt the pace of instruction in the course. Courses like this are a controlled environment. It needs to be that way. You’re miserable and suffering and cold and hungry and everything f’ing sucks and you have to make complicated decisions that have far reaching ramifications and can cost more lives if you screw up, but all of this is deliberately engineered, to see who you are going to be when the chips are down.
If due care was taken not to interrupt the training, then I am glad to have lived to see the day when we have a CiC who actually gives a shit. I remember walking down the main passageway at my command and seeing the chain of command portraits. President Reagan was my CiC. I remember pausing on that and feeling a sense of comfort; ‘the adults are in charge’.
In point of fact, the Q guys were just like other groups that have been invited into the Oval Office. It is a free gesture that resounds outward to who knows what when the participants tell their tale of not only visiting the white House, but being invited into the Oval office
