Draining should not include a forever gold pipeline.

“Saves all the hassles of having to fire them”

Chances are many will resurface somewhere else in Fed Gov service. That’s the trick in Fed Gov service , you quit before you are terminated.

I pray they find out who it was that alerted that Yemeni terror cell about the raid! That person must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, so our enemies are never again wise to our Military moves! TRAITORS TO THIS COUNTRY MUST BE ROOTED OUT AND PUNISHED!!

Agree. There is no down side here. Article seems like they are sticking it to Trump. It is actually the complete opposite. Trump is getting them to leave on their own. They don’t want to be there when evidence of fraud is found.

I would say get a list of retired O5s and start filling based on their knowledge of the job.

Several of my bosses, peers, and cohorts were retired O5s that decided after 20 working for 1/2 pay was not worth it. And got a better paying job on the outside. I can name at least 20 high powered retired O5s that would implement Trump’s agenda.

The problem is that Bambi spent the last 8 years firing or letting go, all of the mid-career and senior conservatives, throughout DOD.

I agree with you. Besides that, why train people who are close to retirement? Would the best of them, who've already established themselves in their next careers even want to return to the military?

Add to that, service academies and ROTC grads from the late 1980s and early 1990s are of a perfect age to move into those positions.

“Obama appointees flee Pentagon; Trump left with scores of vacancies to fill”

Drain the swamp, now replace Obama’s generals. admirals etc. who were his favorites that were politically correct

OK, 163 gone as expected. The only issue here is the Dem stonewalling in the Senate, but the bottom line is that with the GOP majority Trump’s people will get in.

This is a non-story made to appear as a story.

The Pentagon has been stripped of almost all of its political appointees from the Obama administration...

Which is as it should be, since I assume none were asked to stick around. New administration, new appointees.

Bring back all the ones Obama fired.

Like who?

Uncertain future?

The future of the country was not unknown if Obama and his people remained in office.

When you quit, you don’t get layoff/severance packages. You may be eligible for your pension, but you’d have to be of retirement age. As far as I understand Beltway HR. Anyone know the details?

Too bad about that hiring freeze.
And by the time the freeze ends, there will be way fewer federal government jobs these people could apply for.
