The $44 billion palm oil industry, under pressure in Europe after authorities listed the edible oil as a cancer risk, has found a vocal ally in the food sector: the maker of Nutella. Italian confectionery firm Ferrero has taken a public stand in defense of an ingredient that some other food companies in the country are boycotting. It has launched an advertising campaign to assure the public about the safety of Nutella, its flagship product which makes up about a fifth of its sales

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) said in May that palm oil generated more of a potentially carcinogenic contaminant than other vegetable oils when refined at temperatures above 200 degrees Celsius. It did not, however, recommend consumers stop eating it and said further study was needed to assess the level of risk.

If someone wants to avoid any chance of getting cancer, they should live in a plastic bubble and just have fruit and vegetables sent into the bubble. With water.

Palm oil production, spurred by quack medical fads and the “green” biofuels industry, is decimating orangutans as more and more highly varied forest gets taken over by this palm monoculture. Meanwhile the greenies fret over a pipeline in a barren patch of grass in S Dakota.

What if the fruits and vegetables are sprayed with insecticides or radiated to kill bacteria, as most are?
If you really want to be carcinogen free, grow your own vegetables, using your own fertilizers made by composting of leftovers from organic foods.
Daamm it, it is all too much work. I will take my chances with cancer. About half of cancer is caused by inherited genes anyhow.

The plastic bubble will give off chemical fumes. People who live in one of those bubbles will have grandchildren born naked! The science is settled.

I didn’t even mention that part. People have been dying from cancer for a very very long time. Even before pesticides.

“Now the sugar content does bother me. “
Nutella ingredients: sugar, palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skim milk, reduced minerals whey (milk), lecithin as emulsifier (soy), vanillin: an artificial flavor.
Yep, it’s the massive amount of sugar, plus vegetable oil substituting for hazelnut-butter that makes nutella a garbage “food”.
