A Michigan man is outraged after he was ticketed for heating up his car in his own driveway and then told by the police chief to drop dead after he complained to local media.
Taylor Trupiano, who posts on Facebook under the name Nick Taylor, posted a photo of the $128 ticket last week, which he found on his windshield after leaving his car running and unattended in his driveway in Roseville.
Lets all take a moment to thank officer dipst K. Keary for wasting the taxpayers money and giving me a ticket for warming up my car in my own damn driveway, Mr. Trupiano wrote, received more than 13,000 shares.

Sounds like officer dips__t was butthurt! Too bad.
Misleading headline. He was ticketed for leaving the car running and unattended. It’s a silly ordinance but he wasn’t ticketed for warming up his car.
I’m actually with the police officer on this one.
If the car was unlocked and the key was in the ignition the guy was inviting a theft. Doesn’t matter that the car was in his own driveway.
And I’m sure if the car was stolen, or just taken by kids for a joyride, the guy would’ve been the first one to scream at the cops “how did you let this happen.”
The owner seems a little snowflakey to me
If the officer had time to stand there writing a ticket, then he had time to knock on the door and explain why leaving this car unattended could be problematic because of recent thefts.
He would have gained tremendous respect for being on the job, and the PR for the department would have spread by whisper campaign all over town.
What a lost opportunity!
It's a stupid ordinance. I can see my car from my window....but not Russia.
Gotta agree with you on this. An educational 'warning' would have been a good resolution. (Assuming the guy is telling the truth and hasn't already been made aware of the law, as he claims...)
There ain't nothing rosy about Roseville or the increasing auto insurance rates due to the rising number of auto thefts here in Macomb County........
If he's dumb enough to leave his car unlocked and running in that area then he should also be ticked for stupidity.........
What a retarded law.
What’s next? Are they going to start checking your house at night to make sure you didn’t forget to lock your front door... and then fine you if you did? After all, that’s inviting theft!
I want to support the police. But too many of them have nothing to do with “protect and serve”, and don’t care about their oath.
Little tyrants about either exerting power over others or just interested in gaining revenue.
On the other hand, had he checked to see if the car was locked, and walked back to his ride and gone on with the day, we wouldn’t be having the discussion. Too bad it didn’t work out that way. If he found it unlocked, another teachable moment presented itself in going to the door, to explain that it should be locked when running or the ordinance would apply. That part was not mentioned in the article and we don’t have the ordinance to read.
What makes it a police concern is that doing otherwise is inviting auto theft, which is a police matter.
A theif can steal anything in your yard. Should the cop be writing a ticket for everything in your yard that you left out? Lawn mower, gazebo, bench, fountain, childrens’ bicycles. Should we also allow them to put trackers on our vehicles to help them find our vehicles if they are stolen.
Do they ticket children for leaving their bikes in the driveway or front yard? Lunacy.
How about keeping all the animals locked up.
Return to the old beat cop who was a neighborhood friend and not a little obsessive compulsive nit-picker.
Dumb ordinance..Its his car maybe he was setting up a sting
It's all about the FINE!
Liberal governments need lots of money to "protect" the sheeple.
Yes knock on the door and tell him of the ordinance and move on.Cops a prick
In other words, he was ticketed for warming up his car
The only snowflakes in this story is the cop and the chief who cant handle being called a name online. What a thin skinned snowflake.
Better not have a basketball hoop, soccer goal, trampoline or patio furniture either. You're just asking for it /sarc
