Ellen DeGeneres has said Kim Burrell will not appear on her show after the gospel singer made homophobic comments.
Burrell referred to "the perverted homosexual spirit" during a sermon at a church in Houston, Texas.
She had been due to sing with Pharrell Williams on The Ellen DeGeneres Show later this week.
But the talk show host, who is a well-known advocate of gay rights, tweeted: "For those asking, Kim Burrell will not be appearing on my show."
'No excuses'
DeGeneres had been asked by fans to cancel Burrell's planned appearance and an online petition was launched.
In a video published after the sermon, Burrell said: "I love you and God loves you but God hates the sin in you and me."
The singer said she made "no excuses or apologies" for her comments.

It's her show. She's entitled to decide who appears on it and who does not. Would you criticize Kim Burrell is she didn't want to appear with David Duke? Or Donald Trump because he decided he didn't want a biographer who had who trashed him in a book to play golf on his golf course?

That stupid daytime show she has is sickening with her stupid awkward lesbian victory dance through the audience and all the adoring stupid housewives.....makes me gag.
Except she surely knew Burrell’[s views before booking her. So the whole thing is an advertising scam. Have Ellen’s ratings dropped lately?
Ellen can do what she wants, as you said it’s her show. But she wasn’t appearing on the show to preach about the sins of homosexuality, she was appearing to sing.
Somebody should ask if Anne Heche is allowed on the show.
Wonder how much of the audience is hired help. I never looked but sure would be interesting to find the same few people in the audience day after day after day.
Ellen is all about rubbing our noses in her relentless, obsessive homosexual politics.

Did she? The only reason Burrell was invited in the first place is because she sang a duet used in that "Hidden Figures" movie. DeGeneres may or may not have known her views before then. Sounds like a failure on the part of whoever books the guests to me.
I really don’t know but it was all I could do to suffer through one of her shows just once. They appeared to vacuous women attending the show, possibly looking for prizes like on Oprah. I just don’t know, really.
I don't know if that was the underlying reason but I'm sure DeGeneres also knew that it wasn't going to hurt her with her core audience.
She still has time to avoid that fate.
