Appearing on “Fox & Friends,” Bolton, who is reportedly being considered for a spot in the Donald Trump administration, said that the sanctions package that the Obama administration announced against Russia on Thursday is insufficient to deter future Russian intrusions.
“The Russians have walked all over the Obama administration for eight years. It’s really been a pathetic performance,” said Bolton, who served in the George W. Bush administration.

Asked what the U.S. should do to deter Russia from waging widespread cyber attacks, Bolton said that the government must build up its cyber offensive and defensive capabilities.
“How do you do that? In this case, you make the Russians feel the pain,” he said.
“If you make them feel pain and others feel pain, then the possibility of deterring future conduct like this increases. That’s what we need to do.”
Bolton is just an old neocon hack. He says tough things, but his mentality is what brought us here. He thinks Bush was just fine.
Give us the evidence that Russia has been involved in cyber attacks.

I’ve seen Bolton talk about this a couple of times, he’s usually not bad but this time he’s full of crap. He bought into the idea that Russia hacked the election, which is a big load, and thinks we should go Rambo on them.
If Bolton had his way, we’d be looking at a war in no time. He’s quite often right, but this time he’s out to lunch.

Nope. One of Trump’s highest priorities is setting up a real cyber defense command. The way you deter attacks is by attacking back tit for tat and we haven’t done that for years, especially with the Chinese.
He certainly is butt-hurt over Russia. However, he never explains from his perspective exactly what it is they’ve done to harm America’s true strategic interests. It appears to be a grudge more than anything, from the past.
