Ohio (Trump) presidential elector resigns, blames 'political bullying'
Columbus Dispatch ^ | 19 Dec 16 | Robert Wang

State Rep. Christina Hagan, R-Marlboro Township, indicated that she will resign as a presidential elector after two residents over the weekend filed an emergency lawsuit alleging that the Ohio Constitution prohibits a state legislator from serving as a presidential elector.

“It is unfortunate that the extreme left has engaged in what is the most obvious display of partisan and extreme political bullying that can occur,” said a post on Hagan’s Facebook page late Sunday night. “I however will gladly resolve any potential frivolous lawsuits from moving forward by resigning my opportunity to Chair and cast a vote as a member of the Electoral College in order to ensure no delay in the official election of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States.”

I say go after the Clinton and Obama crime families and their media liars. Crimes against the constitution and inalienable rights deserve serious punishment.

I should know the constitutional requirement here in Ohio, but I don’t.

There’s no US Constitutional requirement that she is violating.

If you know the US Constitutional requirement, then you know the Ohio requirement. SCOTUS long ago ruled that states may not add to the qualifications of federal officials.

Not sure if they will replace her. They are voting as we speak.

I’m not native to the area, we are recent acquaintances via her brother.

I think she did the right thing...and funny the clowns waited until now to bring it up.

Read the article. She was probably on shaky legal grounds under the Ohio constitution.

I cannot confirm or deny that the very same thought went through my head. I, of course, only posted the photo in the interest of full disclosure. :-)

Ohio appoints five alternates to their slate of electors, so I'm sure she will be replaced.

The first alternate is the guy who ran Trump's campaign in Ohio.

Actually, per the article the suit says a Supreme Court decision ruled that electors are a state office. So I don’t see how this suit was even drawn up.

The plaintiffs seem to be correct. They are not objecting on Federal/constitutional grounds, but under Ohio law. The article quotes an Ohio statute that says its presidential electors may not "hold any public office under the United States, or this state, or a political subdivision thereof."

That seems pretty clear to me, but I'd be curious to see what Ohio Freepers and lawyers might say.

Exactly -- which would make this woman ineligible to serve as an elector under Ohio law, which prohibits any public office holder from serving as an elector.

If her serving is prohibited by law, how is it bullying to have it pointed out? The word bullying is becoming to overused.

Whatever the law, they are now showing all 18 Ohio electors have been recorded for Trump.

It’s possible they could consider a state elector not to be a federal official.
