‘Calexit’: California Movement Opens ‘Embassy’ In Moscow
rt.com ^ | 18 Dec, 2016

Posted on 12/19/2016 6:05:38 AM PST by Helicondelta

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Louis Marinelli, leader of the movement, said the embassy will not deal with diplomatic issues, but will act as more of a cultural center that will educate Russians about California's history, boost trade ties and promote tourism.

“We're not requesting military assistance from Russia,” Marinelli explained.

“We're certainly going to request recognition of our independence and recognition of our [2019] independence referendum result, as we're going to request that the entire international community recognizes the results.”

Marinelli has previously filed several ballot initiative proposals relating to secession for California. However, none of them has been successful in gathering enough signatures to go to a public vote.

If at first you don't secede, try, try again...

**I hope Trump builds a wall around CA.**

Let them go, it will solve countless problems, to include a massive drop in Dem voters.

Without Cali, Trump might have won the popularity contest.

“We're not requesting military assistance from Russia”

That's good.

Calexit will have to be on a county-by-county basis only, and those counties that choose to exit will have to become "Protectorates" of the United States because of the Monroe Doctrine. Now that we have that understanding, Calexit will receive considerable support from the rest of the U.S.A.

There is nothing in the US Constitution either for or prohibiting state secession. It silent on the matter.

No, without California, Trump would have won the national popular vote by 1.7 million votes. California provided M’lady with a 4.5 million vote win and ALL of her 2.8 million vote lead in the national popular vote and they are STILL COUNTING six weeks after the election! What has happened to this beautiful state is really amazing and depressing. Go to San Francisco sometime; still remarkably scenic, great restaurants. But you will smell urine when you walk out of the BART; you will see bums defecating where they live, on the street, in the heart of the financial district. And the city does nothing to stop them, in many ways it funds and otherwise encourages them to engage in such antisocial, animalistic conduct.

After all the illegals, welfare queens and gun grabbers move to the People’s Republic of California, what’s to stop the tech companies — that do their manufacturing offshore — from moving their corporate HQs out of the state? Aren’t most of them incorporated in Delaware, anyway?

All for a vote in California to allow secession. They also have to allow those counties that want to stay to form a new California whose values align with the rest of the country.

WOuld do the same for Oregon and Seattle.

We will not miss LA. SAn Francisco, Portland, Seattle.

Yes. A wall is a certainty--but only around those California counties that choose to exit (vide supra). They will, of course, remain under U.S. "Protection" (vide supra iterum).

I wouldn’t fight to keep California. Just build a western wall.

Not satire. I wonder if they can legally have a ballot initiative calling for the state’s independence. If they do, the proposition would likely win.

Ship those “Californians” out of the country-—let ‘em find their own to start. We’ll keep the land.

Actually, the eastern two-thirds of Washington State and probably 9/10 of the land mass of Oregon (outside Eugene and Portland) are probably the most conservative areas of the country. I doubt they would want to follow Seattle and Portland out with the nuts in coastal California.

Note to the blue bits of CA: If The Big One strikes, who do y’all want heading up the rescue/bailout: Mexico, or Trump backed by US taxpayers?
