Last week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ruled that existing emissions limits for passenger cars for 2022 through 2025 should remain in place.
It's a decision that is already opposed by lobbyists representing the auto industry, and possibly by the incoming Trump Administration.
Sure enough, one automaker says it has already begun talks with President-elect Donald Trump that include a request for lower emissions targets.

NOW they tell us. Prostitutes.
Cancel all EPA rules and the E.P.A.
In response, get rid of CAFE and encourage the manufacture and sale of US-proportion vehicles.
Less EcoBoost compacts and Transits, more Crown Vics, E-series vans, and full-power Mustangs.
They were strong-armed into it. Play ball or be regulated out of existence (or have a Gibson Guitar style “investigation” into their business).
Well......I would own a hybrid of they were the same price as gas cars, and they performed the same. Teslas are too expensive
2022-2025?
What will the Executive Administration look like 5-10 years out of the Trump era?
The obvious thing to do is to negate the “years-extended mandates” by EO and make them specific to the current time-period.
How is it that the Congress or Executive can impose on the future? All legislation should be configured to to be actionable in the current time-frames corresponding to election activities.
Each federal budget should be set to a 6-year cycle, ONLY.
I like the Ford Fusion Hybrid, I will say.
Ping.
I say we start callling them “fake cars” rather than “hybrids”.
Shouldn’t Trump see what Ivanka has to say about this first?
Look at Ford Fusion Hybrids, 2010-2012 in good condition. You can’t go wrong.
KEK!!!!!
What runs on batteries?
TOYS!
Tesla sells every car they can manufacture. Depending on the model, there's a waiting list.
And if you want something with more range:
I've driven the RLX Hybrid sedan that has essentially the same system (albeit the engine is in the front, and the pair of electric motors are in the back). In "sport" mode, the thing launches like a bat out of hell.
Hmmm. I’m all for slashing and burning the federal government - but I am not in favor of getting rid of the EPA completely or removing emissions standards. We can cap them where they are.
Efficiency standards are trickier - they need to impact all manufactures evenly and they do not. I’m for removing them completely but imposing a tariff on oil for any nation we run a trade deficit with. Let the market then choose.
Let the free market decide how green I want to go. The government should focus on 2017-2020 terrorism, 2017-2020 cybercrime, 2017-2020 political corruption.
Is it crony capitalism when regulations are removed as part of the deal? Nevertrumper minds blown
The Ford Fiesta is junk. They made everything so light and flimsy to try to reduce weight and improve MPG the car is not durable enough to take normal wear and tear.
All to propitiate the fake gods of the State imposed religion of “Environmentalism”.
Ford put up a good fight against the CAFE laws and you have to remember that Ford did not take any bail out money.
It was GM and Dodge that boasted that the 55mpg auto was possible under the CAFE regs and they took the bail out money.
Never again will I by a GM (well never drove them anyway) or Dodge (there 1 ton Diesels is all I drove) again. Just bought a new Ford FX4. Sweet.
