Retired Army Gen. David Petraeus, who is vying for the top diplomatic post in the next administration, said Sunday he did not cast a ballot in last month's presidential election.
"I don't vote, so that's an easy answer," Petraeus told ABC News when asked if he backed President-elect Trump in his campaign against defeated Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

“”I don’t vote, so that’s an easy answer,””
Don’t vote, or can’t vote?
This guy.
Never trusted him.
My son served under him in Iraq.
That’s all I have to say.
Well ... bye.
There is a contingent of Military that do not vote until they are out of service. Non-partisans.
It’s like he goes out of his way to be unlikable. Thankfully he doesn’t have a prayer of being confirmed anyway.
Don’t vote. There is a school of thought in the armed forces that careers officers should not vote in order to avoid getting entangled in partisan politics.
It goes back to the early days of the Republic, so Petraus’ position is not new. I never subscribed to this thinking, but I know several career officers, whom I respect, who consciously do not vote.
he is out of service. In more ways than one.
Don’t trust this man if he didn’t even vote for DJT. Sorry but that should be a prerequisite.
He plead guilty to a unauthorized removal and retention of classified information in a Federal Court.
Does he still have voting rights?
I knew several officers who didn’t vote.
I always voted but never commented on politics, except here on FR.
Most Generals seem to be Democrats
Petraeus should bow out of any consideration for a Trump administration job. He lacks judgment.
General Petraeus should be dumped from consideration
“Petraeus, in the end, pleaded guilty last year to a misdemeanor charge of mishandling classified material.”

I don’t trust this over-educated political general.
He was the darling of the Dmeocrats until they bit him. People tend to forget that.
He’s out, so what’s his excuse now?
I was talking to a U.S.A. Brigade commander recently and he also told me “ I did not not vote , nor will I “ Either may become my C&C and my peers all want to know who I voted for . So I choose not to vote for President , in order to stay neutral and to be able to be loyal , to whomever I am assigned to. “
true story
When the drive on Bagdad was just about in it’s final stage he relieved the commander and took over so he could get combat duty on his ticket
