I always voted. I also told my troops that voting democrat was a court martial offense. Of course, this was back in 1989 and they all knew I was kidding.

I put in 20 as an officer. Never once heard such a thing. Doesn’t mean it ain’t true. Just never heard and I went thru contentious elections there.
