Fidel Castro's rule of nearly five decades split many a Cuban family between exile and solidarity with the communist revolution including his own.
While brother Raul was his closest confidant and successor as president, sister Juana, exiled in south Florida, called Fidel a "monster" to whom she hadn't spoken in more than four decades.
Eldest son Fidelito, long Castro's only officially recognized child, was a nuclear scientist in Cuba. Eldest daughter Alina Fernandez, born from an affair with a married socialite who remained on the island decades later, blasted dad on exile radio from Miami.
The sprawling Castro clan, made larger by Fidel's early extramarital affairs, also suffered from the same sorts of dysfunction and disagreements afflicting so many other families:.......
During Castro's long illness, the tightly wrapped secrecy about his family started unraveling as his youngest sons and their mother, Dalia Soto del Valle, rallied around him.
Soto del Valle, a blonde, green-eyed former schoolteacher ... was his life's most enduring relationship. She was rarely seen in public and never alongside the "maximum leader" while he was in power. Together more than four decades, the couple had five sons, now middle-aged. Castro,.... Alexis, Alejandro, Angelito, Alexander and Antonio..... For decades their identities and their mother's were state secrets known only to a small circle of loyalists.......[snip]
But she wasn't seen publicly alongside Castro until 2010, when he made appearances after a four-year absence, including his first address to the National Assembly since falling ill.
There were also dividing lines in the family tracing back to a custody battle over Fidelito even before Castro toppled Fulgencio Batista (1959.) Those divisions would only grow deeper and more bitter after the revolution, similar to the splintering in untold Cuban families with members on both sides of the Florida Straits.

1. Fidelito Castro (b.1949) only officially recognized offspring
Fidel's first wife, Mirta Diaz-Balart, divorced him mid-1950s and took Fidelito to Miami. Castro wanted his son kept from Mirta's family since her brother -Rafael Diaz-Balart (Batista's government official.) Mario and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (Fidel's nephews) became Florida congressmen who vocalized the exile opposition to Castro's Communist regime.
Castro persuaded ex-wife-Mirta to send Fidelito for a visit when he was in Mexico, then refused to send him back. Three armed men jumped from a car and grabbed Fidelito to return him to his mother. Later, adult Fidelito ran Cuba's Atomic Energy Commission until Fidel removed him in the early 1990s.
2. Alina Fernandez- affair with married socialite
3. Jorge Angel
4. Fransica Pupo
Sons with Ms. Soto de Valle raised in seclusion in Cuba
5-9. Alexis, Alejandro, Angelito, Alexander and Antonio.
Just like the Clintons, the Castro family raked in a personal fortune after taking power.
9 kids and they’re all probably billionaires... Isn’t communism wonderful?
Juat like the daughter of the former assclown chief in Venezuela. She ain’t living too bad. Weird how that works huh. And the useless idiots can’t see it. Dumbasses.
Imagine the money the family has stashed away.
I saw Alina Fernandez speak about 20 years ago at an anti-Castro rally outside the U.N. and can tell you she’s no fan of her father.
I don’t think it works that way in Cuba.
I bet known of them inherit much beyond daily comforts.
Castro’s estimated $900 million will likely flow to Raul for the time being.
Perhaps his enormous wealth in the face of an island living in Communist Poverty will serve as a wake-up call, or not.
Castro probably has a hundred children. He had 12-13 year old girls brought to him on a weekly basis.
Mirta & Fidel’s son Fidelito was educated in Moscow.
Mirta eventually had to forfeit her son to Fidel because Cuban Marital/Divorce law dictates the children stay with the father.
He was a ‘spitting image’ of his father at one time. Now he is 68 years old. Does Fidelito step in after 85 year old brother Raul croaks?
Always remember for these people, Satan is waiting.
OMG. What is it with leftists and pedophilia?
I wonder if “Big Trouble in Little China” got the green eye predilection from his preferences....
Is there a place to get corroborated so that I can send it to someone.
Big Trouble in Little China
I enjoy that movie! It’s just fun! “Wasn’t easy!”
It’s an often repeat in the house to my daughters chagrin...not as much as python, but yeah good fun without being vulgar.
