I’ve never noticed any benefit on blood sugar due to cinnamon. What things actually do compared to what the literatire says is often two dofferent things. Cinnamon actually does inhibit yeast growth which is beneficial to diabetics. Tje cunin did nothing to thwart the heat on the tummy from the taco meat I cooked tonight. And tumeric did absolutely NADA for infection my husband had years ago. He used it topically as well as internally...used medicinal recipes. Honey...raw, unfiltered DID heal up diabetic ulcers on his feet.

He had been receiving wound care from a wound care facility to no avail. Out of frustration we began to use the honey and his feet actually healed up.

I love using herbs when possible, but over the years I’ve also learned that they aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. I think some of it is placebo affect.

... There have ALWAYS and ALWAYS been smart folks around, geniuses too, who figured out good herbs and spices THOUSANDS of years ago. REINVENTING THE WHEEL syndrome.

... Cinnamon has no effect on the stomach; its beneficial effect is in the colon.

... Cools??? Low pH is supposed to be "hot"?

The article describes how researchers used first-of-a-kind "smart pill" sensor capsule to measure precise temp and gas (in this case, CO2) before and after intake of chemical or food agent. It provides factual, in vivo scientific foundation and mechanism to things people may have "known" for a long time. It's a scientific approach to prove or disprove what the people think they know.

“Unroll each roll and place a piece of bacon on them and then roll back up and cook as usual.”

How does a piece of bacon rolled up in a cinnamon roll even have a chance to cook at 375 for nine minutes?

There are at least 3 types of cinnamon. The common cinnamon on the grocery shelf is Chinese cinnamon, a cousin of true cinnamon (Ceylon cinnamon). If you are using cinnamon for diabetes then you need to use true cinnamon or Ceylon cinnamon. I found it on amazon but your health food store should have it, too.

So how you would you consume Ceylon
Cinnamon for use in controlling sugar for diabetes? And how much per dose? I will try asking for it in a health store.

That was my thought as well. The bacon would still be raw.

You could nuke the bacon for 3 minutes so it is cooked (and most fat rendered) but still pliable before wrapping it in the roll. Not saying that is what he meant, but it would work and make the bacon safe.

Unroll each roll and place a piece of bacon on them and then roll back up and cook as usual. I have a cinnamon roll in the fridge. I’ll test out the theory right now.

Lol. You made something great into something FABULOUS!

Congrats on quitting, one thing that’s true, nothing can help, unless you really want to quit.

It is good you don’t get the side effects of Prilosec. Some people get tremors from that med.

    I'll stay with my Prilosec.

Btw, if you're taking prilosec, you're worsening your health ...

It is good you don't get the side effects of Prilosec...

Be careful with long-term intake of PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) like Prilosec, Prevacid and Nexium. They are usually relieving GERD by significantly reducing gastric acid which is necessary for proper digestion, so the cells are still producing HCl which may result in later "overcompensating" PPI inhibition by overproduction thus intensifiying GERD / acid reflux, as well as creating other digestive issues.

There are also other possible side effects, one of which is severe reduction in magnesium in the system (that's why Nexium capsules contain some magnesium, but it's not nearly enough) and magnesium depletion is already very common, even in people who don't use PPIs.

If you take magnesium supplement, make sure it's a very absorbable (high-bioavailability) form, i.e., not magnesium oxide which is the one mostly sold in drug stores (citrate, malate, taurinate/taurate, amino acid chelate etc. are much better forms — there are threads on FR that describe advantages of each). Yet it's best not to use PPIs at all, if possible, especially over long term.

The important thing to realize is that the symptoms of GERD are due to high -pH gastric acid (too low acid) and not the high-acid BS fed to patients by the pharmaceutics giants.

How doctors can peddle this crap with a straight face is beyond me (COI is the only logical explanation). The effect of further lowering gastric acid is sure to include digestive problems, malnutrition from malabsorption and disease (your stomach acid is your first line of defense against ingested pathogens).

Most doctors don't have a choice or flexibility but to follow "the protocol" if they want to remain insured (and in practice) so diag almost always have to be followed by the "standard" prescriptions.

Some good doctors may explain the potential side effects and/or also recommend trying some alternative or parallel treatments or procedures, especially to their long-time patients, but it may come with some assumption of risk. It could help them if the patient is somewhat knowledgeable and would ask questions, then they could veer off the protocol slightly and say "you could try this or that"...

Be very careful with turmeric. Stop taking if your heart starts skipping beats, you start bruising easily or your blood pressure rises.

At therapeutic levels treat supplements like drugs. Because that is exactly what they are.

that's why Nexium capsules contain some magnesium

False, "the magnesium just refers to the specific salt that the Omeprazole is derived from"

Long-term problems with PPIs are much more likely to involve osteoporosis than magnesium deficiency.
