Even before Donald Trump chooses a Supreme Court nominee, the new president can take steps to make several contentious court cases go away.
Legal challenges involving immigration, climate change, cost-free contraceptive care and transgender rights all could be affected, without any help from Congress...
The cases turn on Obama administration policies that rely on the president's pen, regulations or decisions made by federal agencies. And what one administration can do, the next can undo.

Simply sing an executive order revoking every executive order signed since January 20, 2009.
Trump can resolve the whole clean waters regs and anti-coal regs easily. There is pending litigation. His new EPA director can settle the litigation on terms that gut the regs and that prohibit the EPA from introducing further such regs.
A settlement would be signed as an order by a federal judge so it would bind future EPA’s.
I likee! ,, and after that Trump can settle a lawsuit (there must be one) regarding the EPA and the Animas River (Silverton Colorado) screwup ... for a few dozen $Billion and use that ruling to gut the EPA’s funding... pay the lawsuit out of it! Spread the word that the (federal) EPA is “going out of business” and the various state EPA’s will be taking over in 18 months.
