On Thursday, Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta, held a conference call with devastated staffers that put the rosiest possible frame on a calamitous picture.
The message to the dozens of mostly young, sleep-deprived and shell-shocked aides: We did everything we could have. We wouldn't have changed a thing. You should still be proud.
Inside the Democratic National Committee headquarters, which sits half a mile south of the U.S. Capitol, eyes rolled and heads shook in frustration and disbelief.
Clinton's loss at the hands of Donald Trump amounted to the most surprising outcome in the history of modern electoral politics. Of course things could've been done differently. And ignoring that fact wasn't going to make the searing defeat any easier.
"We are pissed at them and state parties are pissed at them because they lost due to arrogance," a top DNC staffer tells U.S. News, sharing the candid sentiment suffusing the high levels of the committee in exchange for anonymity.

Gotta wonder how many of them would switch parties now, knowing what idiots they were working for.
Maybe the Demorats will select the next few candidates based on “its my turn.”
There’s a whole lotta people in “flyover country” that don’t like being called a “basket of deplorables”!!!
Truth and hard work day and night won this election. Libs don’t ever work hard.
forgive my presumptiveness...
What are the eight key dysfunctions of group think, the left has turned into weapons against the common man.
Here they are recast as commandments of the progressive left:
I Thou shalt create an illusion of invulnerability shared by most members to foster excessive optimism and encourage extreme risks taking
II Thou shall not allow any member to question the groups inherent morality, instead members shall be encouraged to ignore the ethical or moral consequences of their decisions
III Thou shalt promote collective efforts to rationalize in order to discount warnings, or other information that might lead members to reconsider their assumptions before they recommit themselves to their assumptions
IV Thou shalt reinforce stereotyped views of enemy leaders as too evil to warrant genuine attempts to negotiate, or as too weak and stupid to counter whatever risky attempts are made to defeat their purpose
V Thou shalt self-censor any deviation from the apparent group consensus, inclining each member to minimize the importance of their doubts and counterarguments
VI Thou shalt create and maintain a shared illusion of unanimity concerning judgement conforming to the majority view
VII Thou shalt apply direct pressure on any member who expresses strong arguments against any of the groups stereotypes, illusions, or commitments, making clear that this type of dissent is contrary to what is expected of all loyal members
VIII Thou shalt appoint mind guards to protect the group from adverse information that might shatter their shared complacency about the effectiveness and morality of their decisions

Well put, KarlinOhio. I’m going to go to bed laughing.
no, committing felonies and being a vile witch cost Hillary the election
It’s not easy to get people to vote for a flagrant career criminal.
Clintons video statement about “why am I not 50 points ahead!” was a tell if I ever heard one.
What smug arrogance!
These statements have me thinking some of the DNC’ers were none too pleased when Hilly arrogantly called half of America “a basket of deplorables.”
Hilly’s self-absorption was abundantly clear.....in her mind, she is better than the rest of us.
And railing against cartoon frogs didn’t help her either.
The fact that there is so much “surprise” and “shock” shows how deluded these people are. It was always close; there were always plenty of polls showing Trump leading, then Clinton, etc.
Disappointed yes, but what is all this shock and bewilderment like it was aliens out of the blue or something?
They think everyone believes what they do. Elitism and a dismissive, haughty, venal, and hateful attitude made them nominate Clinton, and ignore her many negatives.
“Group think cost Clinton the election.”
Bingo! The lemmings heard the bleating of the Democrats and they chimed in.
If you could place Romney, McCain and Dole in a large blender and swirl them all together and then pour this goo into a frame of Hillary and shock it to life this revitalized goo mix would be head and shoulders better candidate than the original.
'One' Corinthians 1:27
There isn’t a democrat who didn’t believe that not only was she going to win, it was going to be a landslide.
They’re coming out of the shock and pointing fingers.
For democrats, this is 9/11 all over again with the shock, surprise and trying to assess what to do next.
They have no bench to fall back on now that the Clinton’s are gone and it’s going to be a bloodbath (perhaps even literally) for control of the party.
What sane party would run a candidate who is a known felon and murderer — and truly expect to win.
Someone on the news said that Trump actually got more women’s votes than Hillary did. True?
Three people I hope to never see or hear from again....Hillary, her husband, and John Podesta.
Well, that is the core of the Democrat worldview. Society should be ruled by an elite bunch of experts, and the people have to support them in the name of unity.
If the model didn't work for their stupid/evil political party, why do they expect it to work for national (or God forbid) global government.
