On Thursday, Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta, held a conference call with devastated staffers that put the rosiest possible frame on a calamitous picture.
The message to the dozens of mostly young, sleep-deprived and shell-shocked aides: We did everything we could have. We wouldn't have changed a thing. You should still be proud.
Inside the Democratic National Committee headquarters, which sits half a mile south of the U.S. Capitol, eyes rolled and heads shook in frustration and disbelief.
Clinton's loss at the hands of Donald Trump amounted to the most surprising outcome in the history of modern electoral politics. Of course things could've been done differently. And ignoring that fact wasn't going to make the searing defeat any easier.
"We are pissed at them and state parties are pissed at them because they lost due to arrogance," a top DNC staffer tells U.S. News, sharing the candid sentiment suffusing the high levels of the committee in exchange for anonymity.

She couldn’t believe she wasn’t up 50 points, can’t get any more arrogant than that.
They can’t accept the fact that a lot of Americans do not like Hillary.
I suspect a good amount of them read Wikileaks and saw how they felt about the little people
Group think cost Clinton the election.
Ask not for whom the bus vrooms. It vrooms for thee, Hillary.
“We did everything we could have. We wouldn’t have changed a thing. “
WRONG !
It was her turn and by God no other Democrat was going to go against her.
They deserve what they got.
.
Plus, the first two words out of her mouth were ALWAYS “Donald Trump”. Followed by lies, nonsense, spin, misdirection, twists, etc.
There were a couple of guys on the GOPe ticket like that, too .... just sayin’.
And remember the condescension and arrogant hatred of those she called the basket of deplorables. Hardly a way to try to persuade voters to vote for you.
This link is worth looking at if you can translate Dutch
It was a coup
Not really. Her age and health did her in. She was just not physically able to campaign hard. Never visited Wisconsin, etc.
so they do know the real reason wasn’t racism. at least some of them have to admit it and are not in denial as to the real reasons why she lost. it is all on her.
She was “next in line” and “first woman” etc.
Not their best option, by any measure.
Sort of the democrat equivalent of the Dole, McCain, Romney scenarios.
I’ve never known arrogance to enjoy secrecy?
Hive mind my son calls it.
Pick Jenny Grandmole, she will really F it Up!
I remember the old US New and World Report. I used it as a high school debater back in the mid 60’s. My late parent and I starting subscribing in 1965 and stopped when the print edition ceased.
The can’t even conceive of such a thing because they live in a bubble. They have no idea what a regular person, (who doesn’t live inside their circle), thinks, feels, or wants. They are totally detached from the reality that you and I deal with on a daily basis.
The DNC is comparable to the ‘People’s Temple’ cult. Hillary was their ‘Jim Jones’, a total charlatan and CON-ARTIST followed by SHEEP forced to drink her special blend of Kool-Aid.
