WTF?
Gee, when the Missouri hit the lock wall, it gashed the wall. Aluminum ships now?
Why didn’t it crack the Panama Canal?
Damn..now the Chinese know how to know it out of action.....Hit it with a Canal!!!
The USS Obama.
Oh Maaaannnnn!!!
The new locks or the old ones?
We will hopefully do a Westbound transit sometime next fall..
have to make sure to look for day-bree..
maybe they need SAFER walls like Nascar.
Guess that aluminum hull is pretty fantastic.
I was leery of allowing women in the Navy. Now it appears they’re letting them pilot the ships.
uhhh old locks . ;-)
again???
They don’t have timbers to use as bumpers?
Who’s driving this thing?
I had a project on board that ship. My opinion is that the ship would be unsafe in combat. It is no better armored than a pleasure boat.
Even non-state actors are firing anti-ship missiles from shore. Hezbollah, in Lebanon has managed to hit five vessels that I know of. It seriously damaged an Israeli patrol boat and the Israelis now run with their anti-missile systems active at all times. (Hezbollah sank a Greek freighter.)
The Independence class mission is to go into harm’s way. But it isn’t tough enough for Harm’s neighborhood.
WTF?
After repairs, it’s going to be rechristened as the USS Eggshell.
Oh, well... if the USN decides to mothball them, I'm sure the RCN would buy them. After all, we bought four RN Upholder-class submarines, with the optional screen doors. The Brits sure saw us coming!
They could always put a steel skin on it. Not very cost effective though....
Well, someone long ago told me they served in the tin can Navy, on a DD. I guess they were ahead of their time.
