This is a news forum. But I sure am seeing a lot of vanity posts lately.
You know our readers generally frown on vanities (unless exceptional in quality) so if you feel the urge to post yet another run of the mill vanity, please resist it.
Or, in the very least, be sure to submit a donation along with your vanity submission.

You are right, of course, and good idea donating for the space! I think everyone is just so anxious and stressed about this election, people just want to start vanity conversations to help deal with it. So, if that helps, skip the Jack Daniels and just donate the savings to Free Republic!

It should be possible to post an article that supports the point that the vanity opinion wishes to make and then add the vanity text in the Body of Comment box. We’re in a period of heightened anxiety about the affairs of the nation and vanity posters want only to have readers apprised of their various epiphanies, many of which have merit, so patience should be exercised for the time being.

I agree, fewer vanities. I’m here to read articles for news content and member commentary about the article, and maybe put in my two cents worth about news articles.
I really don’t like wading through a lot of vanities.

Yes, that's the intent. But, be sure to search for the article first, and post your vanity/comment to any existing thread before starting a new one.
And: blog posts don't count! Most blog posts reference a lamestream media article. Search for that article, and post your comment on that -- or post the blog comment on that, instead of starting a new post.
There are quality blog posts that offer new or original information beyond pointless speculation or editorializing, but they are pretty rare. That requires some judgement to determine if a new post is warranted.
