Texas County Switches to Paper Ballots after Software Glitch
Breitbart News ^ | October 25, 2016 | Logan Churchwell

Chambers County election officials have executed an emergency protocol to remove all electronic voting machines available during early voting until a software update can be completed to correct problems experienced by straight-ticket voters.

Chambers County Clerk Heather Hawthorne told Breitbart Texas Tuesday morning that all electronic voting was temporarily halted until her office completes a “software update” on ES&S machines that otherwise “omit one race” when a straight ticket option is selected for either major party. The Texas 14th Court of Appeals race was reported to be the contest in which voters commonly experienced the glitch.

Hawthorne explained that she expects the technical difficulties to be completely addressed by end of business Tuesday. In the interim, regular paper ballots will be used. The county clerk told Breitbart Texas that before the machines were pulled, poll workers were instructed to alert voters to the glitch and double-check their selections.

Chambers County sits east of Texas’ largest county, Harris, and serves roughly 26,000 registered voters. Hawthorne noted that since polls opened on Monday, only one voter did not have proper photo identification and was required to complete an affidavit to cast a regular ballot. Breitbart Texas recently reported a similar trend in neighboring Harris County where less than 10 out of more than 67,000 ballots cast lacked ID.

until a monitor (properly background checked and vetted) for the GOP be present at all times

They'd just send someone from the Mormon/Saudi/Jewish wing of the Republican party that supports Hillary. Having the GOP monitor would just be another layer of window dressing.

I would rather WAIT an extra day and have ALL paper ballots.

Why would a programmer make visible the change? Just change it “under the hood”. This doesn’t make sense unless someone is intentionally trying to bring doubt to computer voting.

Sometimes (a lot really) programmers screw up and their “fixes” get echoed to the screen, or their malevolent crapware is still buggy.

Have the polls open on election day , one minute past midnight and open till 7pm. That way it gives all who want a vote to vote and reduces the voter fraud, along with ID.

Have paper ballots and let them be counted by poll watchers.

Well. I did some research on the Districts these happened in and from past elections there is no way in hell hillary would even be within 20 points of Trump. If you look at the gubernatorial election there two years ago — Abbott slaughtered some commie woman named davis. The final total was 59.28 percent for Abbott and 38.88 percent for davis. Early voting there is breaking records. IMO from my study , Texas is not in play. They can cheat all the want there.

Unless the democrats plan on the fraud being so pervasive that they are going to steal Texas. They may be going for the most massive vote theft of all time, and want to create the appearance of a landslide. Given the greed and arrogance of Hillary Clinton, it is plausible. And what is there to deter her from blatant criminal acts? The FBI won’t indict. The media won’t criticize. She believes she has a blank check.

That is so true. We have lost any semblance of justice now after the corruption of Justice and FIB.

Personally I would urge legislation to allow every voter the option to use a paper ballot.

Not a paper ballot that has a punch through the vote though. There's a "clever" way the RATs use to disallow GOP votes that way. They stack a bunch of ballots, and run a spike through the DemocRAT vote. So the RAT votes in the stack would be good, whereas the GOP votes would be rejected for having "two" votes cast on them.

I just have to ask. Would you not test these machines before the election?

That does not necessarily help. Software can be coded with date/time sensitive switches to run intermittent fraud routines only on the day(s) of an election. It is easy to do.

Legal standard "chain-of-custody" procedures from source-code to installed binary form on the machine must be followed. The source code itself must be audited by competent outside engineers.

None of this is actually done with current electronic voting machines. This is why they cannot be trusted.

When there is enough incentive for fraud, there will be fraud, especially when events are time-critical and the chance for punishment is small. Fraud leaves traces just like what is being reported.

What a pickle they’d be in if the R’s figured a way to hack the result back to the way the voter intended. The D’s would know that they “won” but would have to admit that they rigged the machines (which they wouldn’t do). Spy vs Spy.

Trump should do a pre-emptive lawsuit on all electronic voting machines using the wiki emails as evidence along with evidence of glitches and people saying their votes were changed.

It would work on a PR level even if the lawsuit didn’t progress.

I could do it with HTML, a JSON, file and some JavaScript in about 25 lines of code. 5 lines (maybe) if I was hooked up to AngularJS. All of this running without an Internet connection.

Yeah, think about it, how accurate are those Atms as they dole out money. Incredibly accurate and probably right 99.99999 percent of the time. Counting a vote is nothing for the machine unless it is tinkered with.
