Well, if there was one thing that was obvious, besides Gov. Mike Pence winning the vice presidential debate, it was that Sen. Tim Kaine had an appalling inability to shut the hell up. Pence won handily over Kaine, who often waffled as he tried to attack Trumpand place pressure on Pence to defend his running mates past remarks. Pence didnt take the bait. Yet, it seemed as if every time Pence offered a contrary opinion, or his take on policy, Kaine interrupted him. It was pervasive. Then again, when you're defending Clinton, one might have to interrupt often in the hopes of muddying the delivery.
After all, theres plenty of ammunition for Pence to use against Clinton concerning her emails, Benghazi, her failure as our top diplomat, and the Clinton Foundationall of which has kept this race closer than originally projected. Trump is weak as well, though he never was investigated by the FBI, never put state secrets in jeopardy by using an unsecure and unauthorized server, and didnt help institute a foreign policy that brought even more instability than Bushs venture in Iraq. Dont get me wrong: Dubya is probably the greatest living president (of course, this is my opinion), though there is plenty of criticism for how his administration handled the Iraq War. But getting back to the debate, FiveThirtyEight noted that Kaine interrupted Pence over 70 times. Lets say that this isnt the best way to influence undecided voters.
70 timesteam Clinton was pretty dead set on making sure no attacks on Clinton could be effectively be articulated. They tried and failed since Pence was able to get some valid points across during the debate. Maybe its an indication that she really is that bad. Yes, Trump has his issues, but old, sick Hillary is far worse.
lowest rating since 2000.
so the msm gets to give its spin, which, out of the top 100 stories on google, 90 are bad.
I HATE HATE HATE the msm and the times owner should be tried for treason.
i hate him and the ny daily news owner.
I'm thinking Trump will play offense during the second debate. It is the thing Hillary fears.
Telling liberals the truth makes them angry and churlish.
And interruption is something that breaks the train of thought and makes it impossible for the person speaking to get their point across.
You don’t have to take over the speaking from the other guy. You just make it impossible for him to be effective.
That in an interruption of the train of thought. Not only that it makes it impossible for the speaking person to think ahead to the next point.
The idea you have to take control, is bogus. And it’s just like a Democrat to claim something that isn’t true here.
There were MANY instances during the “debate” where BOTH Kaine and the “moderator” were simultaneously talking over Pence when he tried to make a point.
Two against one and HE STILL WON. Remarkable.
Pence should have just kept on saying “Rape, rape, and of course rape, but rape rape and rape....” timmy would have fallen in the well and Lassie would have laughed.
All freaking day long I’ve been trying to place that face, and you nailed it! Tim Grinch.
kaine is what you get when you cross a weasel with a snake.
One of the things I can’t stand is someone interrupting and talking over me. If I had any inclination to like Kaine, that would have evaporated after last night.
At at table where she can’t cheat unless she has a bug in her ear. Trump needs to hum and talk over her so she can’t hear her crew feeding her instructions.
What is needed is only having one mic hot at a time. Throw in some sound isolation.
there’s never an excuse for anyone to interrupt.
What did a weasel or a snake ever do to deserve this.
It can become a kind of nihilism. As though the yackiest person ipso facto wins. Rather than the one who has the best, most accurate things to say.
a miserable performance by Kaine
and the moderation, too... it is up to the moderation people to MAINTAIN proper debate or discussion order and NOT LET one candidate constantly and persistently interrupt another speaker. any middle-school debate team student knows this, for goodness’ sakes!
this, quite frankly, STUNK TO HIGH HEAVEN!
Wasn’t Kaine the obnoxious doorman on that Seinfeld episode way back when?
So let us hope and pray that high heaven speaks to the hearts and minds of the viewers, and that this game forfeits itself.
