Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, and we await the long anticipated sharp turn northward. Jamaica is completing final storm preparations. All interests in the Eastern U.S. and Bahamas should be carefully watching the track of Mighty Matthew.
Ripped straight from the NHC Discussion page:
Matthew remains south of a low-to mid-level ridge over
the western Atlantic. The dynamical models forecast this ridge to
weaken over the next 72 hours as a mid- to upper-level trough develops
over the Gulf of Mexico. This evolution should cause Matthew to turn
northwestward after 24 hours and northward by 48-72 hours. The guidance
generally agrees with this scenario. However, there is a spread between
the GFS forecast of landfall in Jamaica and eastern Cuba and the ECMWF
forecast landfall in southwestern Haiti. The guidance becomes more
divergent after 72 hours.

Yep, I listened to him. He’s a solid guy..and I like the way he tells stories of history..brings perspective. Our poor Space Coast is going to get slammed.I love it over there...always feels like a trip back in time.
You’re exactly right. He’s going to do what he’s going to do.
.
Sandy was a man made disaster due to lack of proper preparation, and incompetence.
But that won’t bring anybody’s house back.
Yes. I heard Bastardi on Levins show. He said it is the small burst of gusts that tear things up. He told Mark that St. Augustine could get 120-140 mph winds! The storm is only moving 12 mph as opposed to 30-40 and since it is still over water, it does not downgrade quickly like one which comes inland.
I love that site...but only if I’m not in the path of anything!
Prayers Up!

From some of the comments i’ve read, I wonder why those who don’t want us on here just say “GO AWAY YANKEES”.
My post got deleted, it was rough so i understand.
So was seeing the destruction two days later when driving a cab
pray tell, how do you prepare a house for 20 foot surges that go into the attic?
oh, and the silly kids that died. They didn’t prepare.
But #### it, they were yankees.
I’ve lost count of the number of rude comments against NY by southerners. I’ve NEVER made a bad comment about the south except how surprised i was they gave up on the monument and flag thing so easily.
NYers are NOT welcome on this board, not really. If you’re a catholic too, BAM!!! 0 for 2...
It is what it is.
You are off topic for this thread. Start your own thread if you need to continue your rants.
is your life SO ####ING boring that you need to needle in.
I’m done and you’re 100 percent PROOF that it’s true.
And geez are you nosy/bored/whatever.
ciao
We were filling up with gas yesterday and a State Trouper asked us if we were staying we said yes he took a picture of our tag and our names to call us if they need us. We have a truck so I am not sure what they need but we will do what ever we can. I am amazed!
I don’t know if this has been posted, but here it is:
Coast Guard sets port condition Zulu north of Seven Mile Bridge in Key West
MIAMI The Coast Guard has set Port Condition Zulu north of the Seven Mile Bridge in Key West on Wednesday due to the expectation of sustained gale force winds generated by Hurricane Matthew that may arrive within 12 hours.
Capt. Jeffrey A. Janszen, the Captain of the Port of Key West has set Hurricane Port Condition Zulu which sets a safety zone for the port . No vessels may enter or transit within this safety zone without the permission of the COTP. All vessel movements are prohibited and all ship-to-shore operations must cease.

My sister is a snow bird, not down there yet, but there is a mandatory evacuation where her house is (barrier island in Brevard County).
Her friend is riding it out, which is crazy, there is a single road north-south for much of the length of the barrier island, it could be lost to the storm swell or debris and they will be in real peril out there.
There is a webcam at Sebastian Inlet, for as long as it stay up and connected:

Prayers up to Freepers and FreepFamily in eastern FL and the lower Atlantic coast. Be prepared and be safe.
Heard Clinton is holing up for the rest of the week to prep for debate.
LOL—I didn’t know anybody actually reads the blurb at the top of the thread! Times are changing! As CD said, all of the other graphics and links are current for Hurricane Matthew. You probably won’t get much use out of the Caribbean buoy now, but there are also links for Public Advisories, Bouy data for FL and SE US, and lots of goodies for data nerds.
LOL. And people even read the date of a thread in “Breaking News” they click on. Whodathunk it. Bizarre.
Nobody retweets a 4 day old tweet as breaking news. Media don’t update 4 day old stories as “breaking news”.
It’s your thread. Obviously do what you want. I won’t be reading it for “breaking news” since you apparently have a hard time grasping the meaning of that. Enjoy.
Get yourself a camp stove and a French press and you’ll have the best coffee in town (speaking from experience).
“Please, God, let it make a beeline for D.C.”
Hey, I’m within spitting distance of the DC Beltway, let’s tone down the Wrath of God stuff.
