Tell Us Your Favorite "Truck or Trucking" Songs

Joe Diffie ~ Pickup Man
Well, I got my first truck when I was three Drove a hundred thousand miles on my knees Hauled marbles and rocks and thought twice before I hauled a Barbie Doll bed for the girl next door She tried to pay me with a kiss and I began to understand There's something women like about a pickup man
When I turned sixteen, I saved a few hundred bucks My first car was a pickup truck I was cruising the town and the first girl I seen Was Bobbie Jo Gentry, the homecoming queen She flagged me down and climbed up in the cab And said, "I never knew you were a pickup man".

Grateful Dead ~ Truckin'
Truckin' got my chips cashed in. Keep truckin', like the do-dah man Together, more or less in line, just keep truckin' on.
Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street. Chicago, New York, Detroit and it's all on the same street. Your typical city involved in a typical daydream Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings.
Dallas, got a soft machine; Houston, too close to New Orleans; New York's got the ways and means; but just won't let you be, oh no.
Most of the cast that you meet on the streets speak of true love, Most of the time they're sittin' and cryin' at home. One of these days they know they better get goin' Out of the door and down on the streets all alone.

Yes, you're right. And in many cases they are not just vague, but deliberately "deceptive" in that they use one subject as an allegory for another.
For example ...
I'm not a big fan of Paul Simon, but I always liked his classic "The Boxer." I liked it even more when I found out that it really has nothing to do with boxing. Paul Simon wrote it when he was getting started in the music business, and after some of his early work got poor reviews he felt like he was getting his @ss kicked repeatedly, and demoralized in the process.

And sometimes it is best not to know
One of my favorite Dylan LP's is 'Blood on the Tracks'. I recently learned that was a 'break up' LP, as he wrote many of the songs (all?) during the period of the break up and divorce. I re listened to it and some of the lyrics were even more impactful:
Even you, yesterday
You had to ask me where it was at
I couldn't believe after all these years
You didn't know me better than that
Sweet lady
Idiot wind
Blowing every time you move your mouth
Blowing down the back roads headin' south
Idiot wind
Blowing every time you move your teeth
You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe
Pretty rough
