Ahead of the first presidential debate Democrat Hillary Clinton gets mixed results

Trump needs to work on Colo.
WTF? TRUMP down 8 in VA?
BS!
Thought Hillary pulled out of Colorado weeks ago. Most people have it in Trumps breadbasket. Hillary can’t fly that far to rally the troops.
Another horse hockey poll. Don’t give the breakdown of R/D/I either. Junk science like global warming
There's probably a lot of truth to this. One of the things I noticed about the GOP primaries was that Trump generally did well in the Midwest and East Coast states, while Cruz did better in the Mountain and Plains states.
With such a wide disparity between the political leanings of rural Virginians and Beltway-area bureaucrats, Virginia has become one of the most unreliable and unpredictable states in a presidential election.
This assumes, of course, that all the bigger swing states already seeming to lean toward Trump (Florida and North Carolina in particular) end up in his column.
It is just plain sad what has happened to ‘Ol Virginia. Some are calling New Mexico for Trump. Having been there many times, I do not see it going Republican. I would hope Nevada would go for Trump, but Vegas has been polluted by unions and California liberals. And New Hampshire? Infiltrated by refugees from Massachusetts who bring their failed politics and policies with them.
The only thing that’s happening to Virginia is that the Beltway has become such a large urban sh!t-hole that its political influence is growing. Politically, the rest of the state probably hasn’t changed much at all.
Virginia was always red. All the government employees and lobbyists have made the property values and economy go up while turning the state blue. Just look at that punk governor and how the Senators turned out. I’ve said it before. Trump, if elected, should move the capitol. It’s a good way the put a stake in the heart of the political class. Move it to Detroit. Just how many of these upper class folk will relocate?
It didn’t help in Virginia that the idiot “Republican” ex-senator, John Warner, not only endorsed by actually made a commercial endorsing the Democrat, Mark Warner, over a moderate Republican Ed Gillespie. Gillespie ended up losing to this phony, Mark Warner, by about 11,000 which I lay right at the feet of John Warner, who had also screwed Ollie North in the Senate race years earlier.
Most of the beltway types are elite wannabees and hate Trump. The suburbs like Loudoun are a mixed bag but trending liberal. They won't swing much in this election and the best we can hope for is low lib turnout there. The black cities are difficult territory but Trump is trying his best to get his message to them. If he can get 20% of those blacks it will be huge. The rest of the state is 60-90% conservative and we need turnout here. There is some Trump enthusiasm, more than for Romney at least. But not a wave of enthusiasm yet. There's still time though.
In short Trump can win with high rural turnout, low lib turnout and some black defection. All three are difficult and he needs all three.
I agree, get that infernal capitol out of here. I would put it in the middle Kansas in a cornfield.
I didn’t realize Obama only won VA in 2012 by 3.88% until just now. I think Trump’s gonna win VA, EF these polls...
Let's face it, folks. Political transformation over time has almost nothing to do with political philosophy and everything to do with growing urbanization. People living in urban areas tend to become so woefully ignorant about how the world really works that they lose their sense of American values.
Trump has NH - bookmark and call me out on the night of Nov 8th if not true.
I actually LIKE Kansas.
A better approach would be to expand the District of Columbia to include every place in Maryland and Virginia where more than 20% of the work force commutes to Washington. I wouldn't even mind if they made the District of Columbia the 51st state under those conditions.
1. I'm starting to recognize your posts on many threads, and you have a lot of good insight on a number of issues that I can relate to (I think we both live in the same general metro area, too). You also have a great screen name. LOL.
2. There are some wacky polls out there suggesting that Vermont is even in play for Trump. I don't see that happening in a million years, but I'm sure Trump is going to do much better in Vermont than anyone has expected. If that's the case, then I don't see New Hampshire being a strong Clinton state in November.
