The NYPD put the city on high alert Sunday while launching an all-out search for the possible terrorist who caused a massive explosion on a Manhattan street — and had planned to detonate a second blast just four blocks away.
Cops and numerous federal agents were trolling through all available evidence — including a scrap of paper found in the second device, a pressure cooker filled with explosives and wired to a cell phone.

In defense of the media on this ... I think there is some confusion over the exact location of the explosion because the dumpster where the bomb detonated was apparently thrown clear across the street. I think one building is where the bomb detonated, and the other one across the street had most of the damage.

What do they think he was? A forgetful explosives hobbyist? An experimental chef? A pressure cooker quality control engineer?
Chelsea is a heavily gay section of Manhattan. Has been for years. It's also the headquarters of Communist Party USA which is just up the street from the blast site. The bombing was at 131 West 23rd St. CPUSA HQ is at 235 W 23rd St. However, I doubt any direct ties to them on this, given the Arabic note left at the 27th Street site, although there could conceivably be some connection.
Yes supposedly the bomb was placed next to a dumpster rather than in one.
CNN has reported that the NYPD has clear images of the person who placed the first bomb, and can also, through other camera footage, track him to the second location as well.
I am surprised that there has been no discussion here about that.

: a device that is designed to explode in order to injure or kill people or to damage or destroy property
I think the MSM’s problem was calling the incident a bomb before it was known to be one (N.Y. has frequent nat. gas & transformer explosions for example and the area of the bomb was a construction site, possibility of a hazardous material explosion). I am sure Mr. Trump had some “inside information” since he is a long time N.Y. resident with connections. So he was “1st with most” information-wise & that ticked off the MSM. (CNN didn’t even break away from Obama speech coverage to report on the explosion!)

But there was something odd about the placement of that pressure cooker (the one that didn't explode). Reportedly it was just sitting there on the sidewalk, as plain as day. I.e. there did not appear to be much attempt to conceal it.
Which makes me wonder if it was intended to NOT explode.
Another odd thing: None of the three bombs (two in NYC and one in Seaside Heights, NJ) killed anyone.
Bomb 1 in NJ exploded "early" and didn't hurt anyone.
Bomb 2 in Chelsea injured some people, but no one was killed.
Bomb 3 in Chelsea was hardly concealed, and didn't blow up.
Inept bomber? Or intentionally less-than-lethal? I've never been one much for false flag theories, but with the Hillary campaign's desperation, I'm starting to wonder.

Trump didn't take the bait, though. He only called it "a bombing". But Hillary ran with her script against him afterwards, ANYWAY.

That was how they tried to explain away the Central Park explosive that blew the Virginia tourist’s foot off (the
“hobbyist” crap)...that story died quickly, didn’t it?
I understand the gesture (the added security), but if the brass don’t want to win this war this is just a costly show of force for the taxpayers.
Because the brass doesn’t want to win the “war on terror” any more than they want to win the “war on drugs”, I see it devolving into much the same thing: A costly workfare program creating tons of government jobs with no discernible effect. American taxpayers (and citizens in general) are being played for fools, providing this new swarthy underclass with the rope by which they’ll hang us.
