A sailor who refused to stand for morning colors may now face administrative action, Military.com reported late Wednesday.
Naval Education and Training Command spokeswoman Lt. Cmdr. Kate Meadows did not detail the specific actions the Navy is taking against the young, African-American sailor.
The young woman is training at the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Fla., and is expected to continue training with her class.
She sailor posted an eight-minute video to Facebook late last month explaining why she was following in the footsteps of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick by not standing during the national anthem. The woman cited the now-defunct third stanza of the song and instead of stopping in place and standing during the morning command, she took a seat and raised her fist in the air, a symbol of the Black Power movement.

"[The stanza] basically says land of the free, home of the brave, except for hirelings and slaves and I just can't support anything like that," the sailor said. "I think Colin had a really good point when he said we had bodies in the streets."
The sailor said she will not stand for the anthem "until this country shows they've got my back as a black woman."
A blanket party would go a long way in helping adjust her attitude.
This scumbag needs to be kicked out of the Navy under a dishonorable discharge.
“I’m betting, however, that the Navy buckles and this POS “sailor” receives a slap on the wrist.”
Slap on the wrist? She’ll get promoted and sent to OCS. She’s got “officer material” written all over her.
Absolutely. She's pulling this crap in A-School, as an LPO I can already imagine what a problem she'll be when she gets to the fleet.
I've seen better Sailors kicked out for less.
"No can do, Officer of the Deck, I will NOT turn the rudder to new course 090, until this country recognizes its injustices..."
"No, Captain...I will NOT stand at attention during your punitive mast until my grievances have been heard..."
Only in Obama's Navy. Hopefully, a Trump Presidency will end this nonsense.
ignorance and arrogance
The Obamas.
Waking up in a building built by slaves....(I’m speechless!)
Not EVEN a slap.
Send her to Captain’s Mast (non-judicial punishment for you non-Navy types) and recommend her for an other than honorable discharge.
A slap on the wrist?
Obama’s military will give him a promotion.
Did Francis S. Key write that stanza, or was that done later, like the 300 extra stanzas to “Mary Had A Little Lamb”?
That’s not enough. Her loyalty is in question.
She is getting a free technical education plus salary. Throw her out! See how long she keeps her fist in the air.
I thought it was written by Key but I freely admit I could be wrong on that.
This was obviously written in olden days, when a glimpse of stocking was shocking.
Mary had a bright red dress,
It was too short by half.
Who gives a damn for Mary’s lamb,
When you can see her calf?!
Correct. Needs to be thrown out yesterday.
I am so sick of hearing about “social justice warriors”and the bs that they spout.
I can only hope the navy can just once overlook their adopted policy of “it’s not the sailors fault, it’s the fault of the command” in dealing with this dumb b!tch.
Security risk. And what happens if sailors refuse to salute officers as a matter of protest?

The opening credits from “Branded” popped in my head as I read this.
I’d send the twit for a long walk on a short plank.
I would be willing to bet that 99% of the people in this country were not aware that there was more than one stanza to the Star Spangled Banner.
