Clift single handedly killed Newsweek as a news magazine under her. I've removed bladder stones from dogs smarter than she is.

Eleanor Clift makes my fanny want to take a drink of
water! I’ve watched that show a little bit; and thought
Mr. McLaughlin did a good job. Clift always seems to have
her panties in a wad! I’m sorry. I’m not talking very
nice. :o(

Thanks for posting this. RIP John McLaughlin. I really did enjoy that show at times. I hope they let them go on and do a memorial episode.

This skit is in my top 10 for SNL. This was back when it was funny and actually had talented comedians working.

Thanks, those are both hilarious - had not seen them for years!

I watched McLaughlin Group 2 Sundays ago and he looked and sounded terrible. You and I saw the same show -- and I hadn't seen the show in a long time. Wondered what was wrong with him then. RIP John and thanks.

Me too...love this man. He is/was an original. Watched him regularly since the early 1990s when I made sure my plans always accommodated viewing his weekend morning show. Dug his rapid-fire questions and comments and many (but not all...especially did not care for Clift) of his commentators and guests.
RIP Old Master McLaughlin alongside your faithful dog Oliver.

The only times I enjoyed watching Eleanor was when she was being particularly stupid and everybody else on the panel started laughing at her and telling her how wrong she was. Her screeching fits were amusing.

I remember Pat Buchanan telling Clift that if Bill Clinton killed a little old lady, she would defend Clinton and say “Well, that lady had to die sometime anyway”.

I recall hearing one time that Pat and Eleanor were actually good friends off the set.

[Eleanor Clift]
She’s truly psycho-delusional. Truth gives her a frowny face.
I also can’t stand Clarence Page(?) or whoever that clown from Chicago is. He slobbers every time he talks about Obama. Pathetic.
Yes, they made the show unwatchable.

Was looking for this last night. Worth a chuckle or two.
SNL's take on the market crash back in 1987.
Even if it has the insufferable Sean Penn in the sketch, Lovitz as Rukeyser is pretty good. "Oh...Steady as she goes, Louis." Kills me every time.
And check out "Future Man". He's from WAY, WAY out in the future. 2013. You have any outfits like that in your closet? :-) Me either.

Wow, RIP.
I didn’t regularly watch his show, I don’t think I’ve seen it since the 2014 election. That Elinor Clift, ugh.
I didn’t know he used to be a Priest.
