John McLaughlin, the host of TVs The McLaughlin Group since its debut in January 1982, died on Tuesday at age 89. The political commentators passing comes just days after he missed his first hosting of his eponymous syndicated public affairs program in more than 34 years. I am under the weather, McLaughlin explained in a note that prefaced this past weekends telecast. His distinct, once-bellowing voice, heard in pre-taped intros, was weaker than usual, McLaughlin acknowledged. Yet my spirit is strong and my dedication to the show remains absolute!

I wish this story was WRONG!
RIP!
One of the best skits on SNL.
Sadly, I quit watching about a year ago because I just could no longer tolerate Eleanor Clift. I had to give up Pat Buchanan by doing that. Wish I hadn’t now
He fought for us for 35 years along with Pat. Over time he got mellow but he was a true friend even though I never even met him. May he rest in peace.
Originally a real conservative, he steadily like so many moved leftward over the years.
RIP.
At first I thought another guitarist had died. I guess he’s the “other” John McLaughlin.
He hasn’t looked well in a long time. RIP
In his day he was one of the few reasons to watch PBS. I am glad that he didn’t have to quit doing what he loved until he went to his reward. RIP.
I enjoyed listening to him. But 89 isn’t bad.
John McLaughlin was a former Jesuit priest. I have met only one conservative Jesuit in my life.
Only PBS personality I ever liked.
Had brains and class and was fair.
And yes Eleanor Clif is obnoxious, sorry she wasn’t 1st
CLIFT: Youre telling me to, quit telling me to hold it. I stopped talking several minutes ago.
MCLAUGHLIN: Quiet.
His show was still on the air? I used to catch it every week, Pat Buchanan, Eleanor Clift, Jack Germond and “MOR-TON” Kondracke. I haven’t seen it in over ten years, at least.
I used to be a viewer, but Eleanor drove me away. My blood pressure could not tolerate her lying and screeching. RIP, John.
Sorry, it had to be said. RIP, John!
Metaphysical certitude.
EIP good sir.
