It’s not just Donald Trump himself who can spark controversy. A McKinney homeowner learned even campaign signs for the Republican nominee can turn a quiet neighborhood into a political hotbed.
The homeowner said she never planned for her yard to look like the way it does with giant Trump signs even on her roof. She says she started with a couple of small lawn signs, but after repeated vandalism, this was her answer.
When you post giant signs outside your home, you can’t expect everyone to like them.
“Go home. We’re building a wall. And I’m going to help,” Kimberly Loyd yelled to a group heckling her as they drive by her home.
This kind of war of words doesn’t bother her.
What does bother her is the repeated vandalism over the last two months. Her surveillance camera caught someone painting a swastika on one of her signs.
“I have it on video, and now the police have it on video,” Loyd said.
McKinney Police said they’ve received multiple complaints about vandalism.
They also had to get involved Saturday when protesters showed up with signs mocking some of Donald Trump’s statements from the campaign.
Neighbor Jeremiah Hammer was there. He insists he wasn’t protesting himself, but he liked the protesters’ message.
“I thought the protester did a unique job by not agitating people, but just saying, hey vote for Trump because these are the things he said, and really getting people to think about what it is they support,” Hammer said.
But that’s not how Loyd describes the protests.
“I stood up and looked, and I went, there is some jackass in my yard. So I go out there, and I walk up to him, and I go, hey what’s going on, and he decided to berate me and get in my face,” Loyd said.
Police say officers did have to advise the protesters what they could and could not do.
As for Loyd, she says no one needs to tell her how she can express her views.
“It’s not political. It’s more like, this is my right. This is my property,” Loyd said.
The timestamp on Loyd’s surveillance video shows that the swastika was painted late Saturday night. She’s already been able to paint over it, and the sign is back up. Police said they will be following up to investigate.
When you 'confront' them, do it with a 357 magnum revolver or better. Especially on your own property and in TEXAS for cripes sake.
I think a Trump sign in your yard effectively cancels your homeowners policy at this point.
She has already fixed the sign, and her signage is all back up now.

Numerous incidents like this, reported or anecdotal, are a large part of it.
And we can expect the intimidation to only continue, as it becomes clear Trump has a real chance of winning.
Notice it is always those loving caring liberals who are comitting crimes against their political opponents.
Rubbing the edges and sides of the sign with poison ivy will likely deter future attempts.
The next US civil war (and it is coming, folks) will look like the Lebanese civil war, not the first US Civil War.
Your enemies will be your neighbors.

I live in N. GA in a quiet sub-division that goes to sleep about 9-10PM. I have an F-150, several guns and even a suppressor, a tarp and plenty of dark mountain roads with deep ravines. Do it at your peril.
I saw a pic on another site of the homeowner, and while it is hard to tell from that pic she looks extremely NOT GUILTY.
I don’t get the “signs and bumper stickers” people. Why? You show your support when you vote. I cannot imagine a sign or a bumper sticker changing someone else’s mind, it just shows your personal support. And with the “left” we have today, although you certainly have the right, you are nuts to display your feelings. The left is a bunch of Democrats any more, it is a bunch of corrupt thugs. You want to put a Trump sticker on your car ... no problem, expect to get it keyed ... your choice.
