Amid new claims from Republican Donald Trump that the fall election may be "rigged" against him, the Obama administration is considering taking a step toward nationalizing the cyber security of the process, according to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson.
"We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process, is critical infrastructure like the financial sector, like the power grid," Johnson told a media breakfast Wednesday.
"There's a vital national interest in our election process, so I do think we need to consider whether it should be considered by my department and others critical infrastructure," he said at the breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

This will make it even more difficult to pinpoint any errors. Perhaps have one type of voting machine. But, here we go again making things complicated. Just ask for ID and keep it simple!

This will guarantee the system is rigged. Yes the current president has zero conflict of interest in the next president who wins. Right. After one has campaigned with him together on the same stage. No conflict of interest. After one of them has worked for him for years as SoS and just said putting him on SCOTUS would be a great idea. No conflict at all.

Not that the Obama Administration gives a crap what the Constitution says, but:
Art 1, Sec 4:
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
Sec. 5:
Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members,...
Art II, Sec 1:
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.
Nowhere is the Executive Branch given any authority over elections.
We are moving toward a political reorganization of the country in which the states become administrative districts of the federal government. If that happens legislatures will be dissolved and governors will be appointed by the chief executive.
It bodes significant ill.
