The Veterans of Foreign Wars blasted Donald Trump on Monday for his comments about Ghazala Khan, the mother of a fallen Muslim Army captain, calling the Republican nominee "out of bounds."
“Election year or not, the VFW will not tolerate anyone berating a Gold Star family member for exercising his or her right of speech or expression,” said VFW leader Brian Duffy in a statement.
Story Continued BelowTrump said in his interview with ABC that aired Sunday that Ghazala Khan "wasn't allowed to have anything to say" as her husband, Khizr, criticized the Republican nominee at the Democratic National Convention last week.
“There are certain sacrosanct subjects that no amount of wordsmithing can repair once crossed,” Duffy said in the statement. “Giving one’s life to nation is the greatest sacrifice, followed closely by all Gold Star families, who have a right to make their voices heard.”

The few people who are still members or who donate to the VFW need to stop right now. The organization is straight-up lying about what Trump said (read the whole statement—Duffy accused Trump of “questioning a mother’s pain” and claiming that he’s sacrificed as much as vets, neither of which he at any time or in any way actually did), defending Sharia law, making excuses for the oppression of women, and working to overthrow the values that millions of Americans fought for. Vets need to recognize that this partisan organization is actively working against your interests. Have nothing to do with them and denounce them where possible.

I heard that some vietnam veteran tried to join my hometown chapter of VFW around 1972 and he was told to come back when “you’ve fought in a real war, sonny”. Needless to say He was mad as hell and when the cops got to the hall he was outside throwing rocks at the place. Broke some windows but I don’t think he was arrested. Ever since then I have thought of the VFW as Veterans with Fat Wives. I am a life long civilian and locally would recommend the American Legion. My father was the chairman of the bar so to speak and those guys had a better attitude.
